Block The Aromatase Enzyme Naturally

Block The Aromatase Enzyme Naturally

The Aromatase Enzyme Makes A Dangerous Form Of Estrogen (Estrone), which is associated with: Breast Cancer
Endometrial Cancer
Prostate Cancer

Estrone is made in:
Fat Cells – the larger the fat cells the greater the synthesis (overweight women after menopause have a 3x greater incidence of breast cancer and similar risk for endometrial cancer)
Breast Cells
Breast Cancer Cells

 Aromatase inhibitors and cervical cancer
Prescription aromatase inhibitors have been studied to test their effect in the regression of abnormal hpv induced cervical lesions. Epidemiologic studies have implicated estrogenic exposure as well as human papilloma virus (HPV) infection in cervical carcinogenesis, and some studies have suggested that estrogen and HPV may play synergistic roles in cervical tumorigenesis.

Aromatase inhibitors and fibroids
Aromatase Inhibitors [“AI’s”]* were originally developed to treat breast cancer. They block the conversion of estrogen-precursor molecules to estrogen in many types of cells. By blocking conversion of precursor molecules to estrogen, AI’s stop hormone-dependent tumors such as breast cancer and fibroids. AI’s offer exciting potential to treat any hormone-dependent condition with laser-like precision and minimal side effects, including: breast cancer fibroids endometriosis

Aromatase inhibitors include: isoflavones, flavones (quercetin) indole-3 carbinol

You don't have to take drugs to inhibit aromatase. Nature has provided plants that will get the job done without harmful side effects. In April, Natural News ran an article about the powerful aromatase inhibiting ability of chrysin ([url=http://www.naturalnews.com/026086.html]

Chrysin is a flavonoid from the passion flower plant. Research showed that chrysin worked as well to inhibit the aromatase enzyme as a drug designed for that purpose. Chrysin is normally taken as a supplement along with piperine which greatly enhances its bioavailability. For those who would rather get their aromatase inhibiting flavonoids from whole foods, there are several good tasting choices. Beneficial compounds from food have the added benefits of the perfect synergy found in a whole food as well as the other nutrients and compounds it contains. Quercetin, naringenin, resveratrol, apigenin, genistein, and oleuropein are all powerful flavonoids from whole foods that inhibit aromatase while at the same time offering a treasure chest of other health benefits.

Quercetin is the main reason an apple a day keeps the doctor away. It is a major antioxidant with important anti-aging benefits. It fights inflammation and reduces the cellular damage inflammation causes. By fighting inflammation, it also helps decrease swelling and pain, and keeps the circulatory system healthy. Quercetin helps prevent fatigue by helping to decrease damage from heavy exercise, and increase endurance. It is an anti-viral, and an immune system supporter and liver protector. Research has suggested that quercetin has other anti-cancer benefits aside from inhibiting aromatase in breasts and prostates. Cabbage, onions and garlic are other good sources of this powerful flavonoid.

Apigenin is a non-mutigenic flavonoid that has significant chemoprotective action against UV radiation. Research has shown apigenin reduces oxidative damage of DNA, inhibits the growth and induces differentiation in human leukemia cells, inhibits cancer cell transduction, and induces appropriate cell death. Like quercetin, apigenin acts as an anti-inflammatory and as an antispasmodic. Apigenin is found in good supply in celery, parsley, artichokes, basil, and chamomile.

Resveratrol is a flavonoid gaining wide respect for its multitude of health benefits. Several recent research studies have revealed that resveratrol is highly effective against breast cancer by inhibiting ER positive and negative cell proliferation, cell cycle progression, and primary breast tumor growth. Resveratrol is protective of the liver even against alcohol. It also keeps the central nervous system strong by protecting neurons from oxidative stress. Resveratrol is found to some degree in the skin and seeds of red grapes. Muscadine grapes have the largest content and are often used to make red wine. Although supplements of resveratrol are popular and widely available, getting resveratrol from red wine allows you to get the entire grape polyphenol group of nutrients, a group that has been shown to work much better synergistically. Breast tumor growth and metastasis to bone and liver were shown to be better inhibited by the complete grape polyphenol complex.

All these foods are prominent features of the Mediterranean diet Fresh fruits, vegetables, olive oil and red wine are components of the Mediterranean diet, the one and only diet that has consistently correlated with lower death rates from all causes. Flavonoids from each of these foods inhibit aromatase activity to reduce incidence of breast cancer. And when you chose a diet that features these foods on a regular basis, what you are really getting is the best all around prevention plan on earth. Some supplements also contain natural aromatase inhibitors.

Breast Thermography awareness

According to the National Cancer Institute, there were 192,370 new cases of breast cancer in females and 1,910 cases in males in 2009. That year, 40,170 women and 440 men died from breast cancer. The World Health Organization reports that breast cancer accounts for 16 percent of the cancer deaths of women globally.

Breast thermography is a state-of-the-art screening procedure that captures images of the breast to aid in the early detection of breast irregularities. According to the American Journal of Surgery, it “is a valuable adjunct to mammography and ultrasound, especially in women with dense breast parenchyma.”

It is based on the principle of temperature variation, the slight increase in heat that is almost always generated when chemical and blood vessel activity occurs in pre-cancerous tissue and the areas surrounding a developing breast cancer. Images are captured with ultra-sensitive infra-red cameras and analyzed with sophisticated computers that seek to detect the minute increases in surface temperature and vascular changes that may be occurring within the breast. It is comfortable and safe, using neither radiation nor compression.

Breast thermographic technology has been researched for over 30 years. It has, however, been gaining national prominence and more widespread use only recently, due to the publicity received by radiation-based screening technologies in the guidelines issued by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Federal Government. It should not, however, be considered an alternative to mammography. Rather, it should be regarded as an adjunct to mammography, and should be offered in every woman’s regular breast health regimen. Women of all ages should employ a combination of techniques, including breast self-examination, physical examinations of the breast by a physician, thermography, mammography, HALO breast pap and sometimes ultrasound or MRI examinations, where indicated. Studies have shown that the earliest detection generally occurs when several test techniques are used in combination. The inclusion of thermography can often point out the need for more intensive examination to make a complete diagnosis.

There are more than 800 peer-reviewed breast thermography studies, in which over 250,000 women participated. Many of these studies involved very large groups of patients (from 37,000 to over 100,000) and some have followed patients for as much as 12 years. Among other conclusions, these studies found that when thermography has been added to a woman’s regular breast health checkups, a 61% increased survival rate was realized, and when used as part of a multi-modal approach (clinical examination, mammography and thermography) 95% of early stage cancers will be detected. Since 23% of all breast cancers occur in women under the age of 49, regular breast health checkups should be undertaken by women of all ages, even those in their 20’s. It is well known that early detection is the best defense against breast cancer and that, if treated in the earliest stages, a 95% cure rate is achieved.

For optimal breast health, mammography alone may not be enough. There are additional tools for breast health screening: thermography and Halo breast pap. Halo breast pap tests for the presence of abnormal fluid in the breast ducts. The test consists of five minutes on a modified breast pump to attempt to obtain fluid. If there is any fluid present, it will be sent for further testing. The test can detect early cellular changes within the breast ducts, the area where more than 90% of breast cancer begins. Each of these tests can be provided to women of any age who are not pregnant or breast-feeding.

What to do if you are at increased risk?

Aromatase is an enzyme produced in the body that is needed for the final step in the production of estrogen as part of the hormonal cascade during which hormones are made from other hormones in a series of conversions. This enzyme converts androgen to estrogen. Aromatase is expressed at a higher level in breast cancer tissue than in benign tissue. Estrogen biosynthesis can be suppressed by the prevention of aromatase expression in breast tumors or by the inhibition of aromatase activity. Without the aromatase enzyme, excessive production of estrogen stalls. This process is what makes aromatase inhibitors effective against hormone-sensitive tumor growth.

High estrogen levels are a well-known risk for breast cancer. Many breast cancers depend on estrogen to grow. In fact, seventy per cent of diagnosed breast cancers express Estrogen Receptor alpha (ER{alpha}) and are, therefore, likely to be hormone-responsive. Apart from commercial and synthetic aromatase inhibitors, where can you find natural sources of such inhibitors?

Natural aromatase inhibitors include flavonoids, flavones, flavanones, isoflavones, resveratrol, oleuropein and linoleic acid. These are healing foods for breast cancer and other hormone-sensitive diseases.
Quercetin, Resveratrol, and Chrysin are found in PriVita, a natural aromatase inhibitor for breast health.
If you do have risk factors for breast cancer, consider a natural supplement.

Seven Ideas for reducing genital herpes, cold sores, shingles outbreaks

Herpes viruses lie dormant in body tissues and are expressed periodically, probably as a result of stress, diet, and other factors.

A national survey of the US population conducted between 1988 and 1994 found that more than one in five people over 12 had blood tests that showed evidence for infection with herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV 2), the virus typically responsible for genital herpes. This represents a 30 percent increase from 1976-1980. There is also evidence that genital infections with HSV 1, which normally causes cold sores around the mouth, are on the rise.

     Genital herpes recurrence

Recurrent episodes of genital herpes are milder and shorter in duration than initial outbreaks. However the frequency of recurrences is greater than had been thought in the past, because of asymptomatic shedding. Use of condoms as prevention Condoms are only partly protective because HSV-2 can spread by skin-to-skin contact, which could occur in areas not covered by the condom. Even when people with genital herpes don't have a visible outbreak of infection, they may be able to infect others with the virus. Archives of Internal Medicine, July 13, 2009.

What are natural things one can do?

While there is currently no cure, or immunization, to defeat herpes, there are natural measures that can ease, and possibly prevent, future outbreaks. There are herbal treatments for herpes that boost the three lines of defense against attacks by herpes. Capsuled mixtures, tinctures and teas intended for internal intake, work to enforce the immune system – the first layer of defense. This will help the body keep the outbreak down and minimize symptoms. The second layer of defense is responsible for countering stress. Emotional stress may impact immune system very badly and thus make your body more vulnerable to virus attacks. There are supportive herbs that relieve stress and therefore enable the immune system to combat the virus. Thirdly, there are herbal remedies that are used externally on affected areas and help reduce the discomfort.

     Genital Herpes in women

For women with genital herpes, taking oral contraceptives can double the likelihood of actively shedding the virus and so passing on the infection. The risk is also roughly doubled when women have bacterial vaginosis -- vaginal infection characterized by heavy discharge -- or when the vagina is colonized by group B strep.

Natural help for inflammation, pain, cholesterol and immunity

This vitamin provides a blend of the highest quality antioxidants that are known to fight cancer, joint inflammation, and cardiovascular disease. It also has a blend of the most effective weight loss aids on the market today.

Resveratrol is Derived from the grapes of wine and Japanese Knotweed, got very interesting for the science community back in the eighties due to the extreme low cases of coronary heart diseases found amongst French people, compared to any country in the world. Resveratrol is also thought to have blood sugar lowering properties.

The Maqui is the highest antioxidant value of any known fruit. It helps to support healthy inflammatory functions, and healthy aging. Maqui has been used in traditional native medicine by the Mapuche Indians to treat inflammations, sore throat, diarrhea, ulcers and fever. It has also been used to increase strength and stamina.

This supplement also contains green tea and grapeseed extract which has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti cancerous and anti-microbial activity.

The secret of green tea lies in the catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). This substance is a powerful anti-oxidant which means that it inhibits the growth of cancer cells. It is proven that it is at least 100 more times more effective than vitamin C and 25 times more effective than vitamin E at protecting cells and DNA from damage believed to be linked to cancer, heart disease and other serious illnesses. Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences report green tea polyphenols contains 51 phytonutrients that support a healthy inflammatory response.*

    Acai Berries
Have been used by Indians in the rainforest for centuries for the treatment of diarrhea, fever, muscle pain, menstrual pain, jaundice, liver and kidney diseases. The health industry got very interested in Acai due to its weight loss abilities and because of the very high value of antioxidants which is one of the highest ever seen. It is recorded at a value of 102,700 per 100 g antioxidants against Peroxyl radicals, determined from both hydrophilic and lipophilic sources.

Grapeseed extract is prescribed by doctors in Europe for a variety of vascular disorders, collagen damage, water retention and arthritis. Grape seed extract also helps to reduce or eliminate the symptoms of leg cramps, varicose veins, diabetes, and numbness in the extremities

    Alpha Lipoic Acid

Scientists first discovered the ALA compound in bacteria back in 1937. At one time scientists believed ALA was a vitamin -- substances the body needs, but can't produce on its own. But in 1998, it was identified as an antioxidant crucial to energy production in the body. It is also thought to regulate blood sugar[source: American Cancer Society)

    Overall this supplement:

A potent antioxidant that helps prevent free radical damage which can lead to premature aging of cells

Contains cholesterol lowering ingredients like green tea, lutein, lycopene, grapeseed extract, and resveratrol

Recently, a great number of plant-derived substances have been evaluated as possible inhibitors of the NF-kappaB pathway. NF-kappaB represents an important and very attractive therapeutic target for drugs to treat many inflammatory diseases, including arthritis, asthma, and the auto-immune diseases, most attention has been paid in the last decade to the identification of compounds that selectively interfere with this pathway. This supplement contains natural NF-kB inhibitors:, contains green tea, resveratrol, vitamins A, C, E

Contains natural COX 2 inhibitors (pain medicine). Celebrex is a prescription COX-2 inhibitor. This supplement contains Vitamins A and E, Resveratrol, and Green Tea are natural COX-2 inhibitors and provide some relief from menstrual cramps and joint pain. This is a great supplement for people who are trying to decrease their usage of prescription pain medications, or who need to avoid the complications of prescription pain medications.

For Lupus patients, people who are ANA positive, or people with rheumatoid arthritis: It contains Vitamins A and E. These vitamins may help prevent cell damage that leads to joint pain. The active ingredient in green tea, polyphenol, may have anti-inflammatory properties that can be helpful in lupus; some research has been done to support the use of green tea as a natural anti-inflammatory. Alpha lipoic acid and citrus bioflavonoids benefit those with inflammation and can provide positive results with inflammatory conditions. I have recommended this supplement for my patients with bursitis, arthritis, fibromyalgia and other inflammatory conditions, and they have reported improvement with those conditions.

    What is the ORAC value?

To determine what makes a fruit, berry or a spice high in antioxidant, we have to figure out its ORAC value compared to other fruits, berries or spices. The ORAC value (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) is a measuring of the antioxidant capacity of different foods and supplements, developed by scientists at the National Institutes of Health. The higher ORAC value, the better the food or supplement is to break down and slow down the oxidative processes and free radical damage that can contribute to age related diseases and degeneration.
There are 4 main ingredients that make it a strong antioxidant supplement. The recommended daily ORAC is 3000-5000 per day. This has been ORAC tested by Brunswick labs and contains 1318 per capsule.

The recommended dose is 1-3 capsules daily. It would take a couple of weeks to notice an effect.

Resveratrol containing supplements by Vita Doc

Resveratrol seems to be everywhere in the news these days. But another plant-based chemical, quercetin, is beginning to attract attention from researchers as well.

Recent studies suggest that resveratrol and quercetin might actually be more effective when taken together. Both resveratrol and quercetin are polyphenols, a group of antioxidant chemicals found in many fruits and vegetables.

An antioxidant is a compound that destroys free radicals in the body, those atoms with unpaired electrons that cause damage to tissues and cells as they roam the body scavenging electrons from other atoms. The polyphenols have been found to have such health benefits as lowering LDL (bad) cholesterol in the body, and reducing the risk of heart disease and cancer.

In fact, many scientists believe that the polyphenols may be some of our most powerful natural agents for the prevention of chronic diseases of aging, and even for slowing the aging process. Resveratrol is found in the skins and seeds of red and purple grapes, and in dark-colored berries and peanuts; good sources of quercetin are onions, especially red onions, and the skins of apples. Significant quantities of both quercetin and resveratrol are present in red wine. Although both resveratrol and quercetin are polyphenols, of the two, only quercetin is classed as a flavonoid. These plant pigments provide color in fruits, vegetables, and flowers and wine as well. Some recent research has suggested that quercetin boosts resveratrol. Impressive as the effects of resveratrol may be alone, they may be enhanced by working together with quercetin. For example, in a 2008 in vitro (test tube) study (Yang et al.), researchers investigated the effects of various combinations of quercetin and resveratrol on adipogenesis and apoptosis. Adipogenesis is the formation of fat cells, or adipocytes; and apoptosis is the process of programmed cell death, by which the body rids itself of old, unhealthy, or excess cells.

When maturing fat cells were treated with resveratrol and quercetin separately, resveratrol suppressed fat accumulation by 9%, while quercetin suppressed it by 15%. However, when given in combination, fat accumulation in the cells was decreased by more than 68%. In addition, resveratrol and quercetin, administered individually, induced programmed cell death in mature fat cells by 18% and 15%, respectively. Given together, they increased apoptosis in mature adipocytes more than the single compounds did. These data may have significant implications for the development of products using resveratrol and quercetin for weight loss. The researchers stated, Taken together, our data indicate that combinations of resveratrol and quercetin can exert potential anti-obesity effects by inhibiting differentiation of preadipocytes and inducing apoptosis of mature adipocytes. Some research scientists believe that the combination of resveratrol and quercetin may not be the only synergistic possibility.

It may be that a group of five compounds can work together in synergy to offer protection against heart disease and cancer. Resveratrol and quercetin, vitamin E, vitamin C, and selenium (a trace mineral) are being investigated together with this goal in mind. Privita contains resveratrol and quercetin.  It is blended with other compounds with estrogen blocker and aromatase activity. Maqui/Resveratrol/Acai Ultimate contains resveratrol with vitamin E, vitamin C, green tea and selenium.

    Natural Alternatives for Pain Relief

    Herbal Alternatives for pain relief
A new study has found that healthy people who take certain
    NSAID (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)
pain relievers may increase their risk of heart attack and stroke.

People commonly use NSAIDs, especially OTC formulations, to reduce fever and relieve pain caused by conditions such as arthritis, headache, toothache, back pain, muscle pain, menstrual cramps or minor injury.

Previous studies linked NSAIDs and cardiovascular risks in persons with other high risk factors or established heart disease, however this study is the first to measure the increased cardiovascular risk caused by NSAIDs in healthy people.

“We conducted this study to answer whether any specific NSAID carried a risk of cardiovascular adverse events among healthy individuals and to explore if there were safer alternatives within the group of NSAIDs,” study authors said.

Researchers in Denmark studied 1,028,437 healthy Danish individuals with an average age of 39 from January 1, 1997 to December 31, 2005 for increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality with the use of rofecoxib (Vioxx), diclofenac, celecoxib, naproxen and ibuprofen.

Rofecoxib, marketed as the brand name Vioxx, is no longer available in the United States. Merck voluntarily withdrew the drug from the market in 2004 after studies showed an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. Vioxx was widely used in the U.S. before its withdrawal, generating $2.5 billion in sales revenue in 2003.

Diclofenac, marketed as brand names Cambia, Cataflam, Voltaren, Voltaren-XR and Zipsor, and Celecoxib marketed as Celebrex are only available by prescription in the U.S., while consumers can purchase ibuprofen over-the-counter (OTC) as brand names such as Advil, Motrin, Midol and Nuprin. Naproxen is available by prescription, but consumers can also purchase naproxen (Aleve) over-the-counter.

According to Healthday News, compared to people who took no NSAIDs, researchers of the study found that patients taking diclofenac had a 91% higher risk of death from heart attack and stroke, much higher than the 66% increased risk for those taking rofecoxib (Vioxx). People taking the largest doses of diclofenac saw risk of heart attack doubled and for those taking the largest doses of rofecoxib (Vioxx) risk tripled.

Perhaps the most relevant study finding for U.S consumers self-medicating with OTC ibuprofen products is that ibuprofen showed a 29% higher risk of stroke.

Researchers found no increased risk of heart attack or stroke with use of naproxen. Their analyses of celecoxib were not conclusive.

“Because treatment with NSAIDs is so widely distributed in the general population, it is also of great importance that a safe alternative is found when NSAID treatment cannot be avoided. The safety of naproxen has been much debated, but it is widely accepted that naproxen is probably the NSAID with the safest cardiovascular risk profile, and our results support this assumption,” the researchers said. “Our results suggest that naproxen could be a safer alternative when NSAID treatment is required.”

The study appears in the June 8, 2010 issue of Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes, a Journal of the American Heart Association.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires drug labels for NSAIDs to warn of increased risk of heart attack or stroke associated with long-term continuous use of the drug. The Denmark study population had a median exposure time to NSAIDs of 14 days, indicating short-time exposure in most individuals.

    Retrieved from http://newyorkcity.injuryboard.com/fda-and-prescription-drugs/popular-nsaid-pain-relievers-increase-risk-of-heart-attack-and-stroke.aspx?googleid=282136

See our list of natural alternatives to NSAIDS below:

Some of the side effects and health risks associated with taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) include stomach bleeding, ulcers, nausea, rash, headaches, dizziness, liver and/or kidney damage, and according to a recent Denmark study, NSAID use can increase the risk for heart attack and stroke (see article above). it is important to know about safer alternatives for reducing inflammation and pain. Natural products also support, rather than interrupt, the healing process. There are several choices when it comes to natural anti-inflammatory products. Keep in mind that not everyone responds the same. As long as there is no medical reason to not use a natural product, give it time to take effect. If you don't see results in a reasonable period of time, try another product.

    1) ResVita Ultimate (Formerly Maqui/Resveratrol/Acai Ultimate)
Contains Resveratrol, Alpha Lipoic acid, and Green Tea

Alpha lipoic acid is thought to work as an antioxidant in both water and fatty tissue, enabling it to enter all parts of the nerve cell and protect it from damage.Preliminary studies suggest that alpha lipoic acid may help. In one of the largest studies on the use of alpha lipoic acid, 181 people took 600 mg, 1200 mg or 1800 mg of alpha lipoic acid a day or a placebo. After 5 weeks, alpha lipoic acid improved symptoms. The dose that was best tolerated while still providing benefit was 600 mg once daily.
Green tea (Camellia sinensis) is great for stiff muscles—it has nine muscle-relaxing compounds, more than just about any other plant.

Resveratrol, a phytochemical derived from grape skin, is also abundant in members of the Polygonum genus, widely used in traditional Chinese herbal medicine. The anti-inflammatory effects of resveratrol were first described in 1997 after an animal model determined its primary activity to be the inhibition of COX-1.17Then a study led by some of the same researchers from Cornell Medical College in New York City revealed resveratrol's COX-2 inhibitory effects.18
A compound found in plants such as grapes can protect intervertebral disc cartilage and reverse cartilage damage, which may have implications for treating disc damage responsible for back pain, according to research published in the Nov. 15 issue of Spine. Xin Li, M.D., Ph.D., from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, and colleagues investigated the effect of the phytoestrogen resveratrol, found in plants including grapes and red wines, on bovine disc cells. Previous work had shown that resveratrol could protect articular cartilage from damage, the study authors note.

    2) FatBurner
Contains White willow bark, Garcinia, green tea and cinnamon

White willow bark is one of the oldest home analgesics, dating back to 500 b.c. in China. Modern research confirms old-time wisdom, showing it helps back, osteoarthritic and nerve pains. Willow bark contains apigenin, salicin and salicylic acid, which provide anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-neuralgic actions. At the end of a four-week study of 210 individuals suffering from back pain, reported in the American Journal of Medicine in 2000, 39 percent of those who had received 240 mg of salicin daily were essentially pain-free, compared to 6 percent of those given a placebo.

Cinnamon is considered a pain-killer due to its prostaglandin-inhibiting action.
Garcinia kola appeared to have clinically significant analgesic/anti-inflammatory effects in knee osteoarthritis patients. Garcinia kola is a potential osteoarthritis disease activity modifier

    3) Rhodi Ultimate (Formerly Rhodigandha)
contains Rhodiola and Ashwagandha, Acai, Pomegranate
For people who suffer from neurological disorders, rhodiola rosea may be able to offer the comfort needed to enjoy day-to-day living. The herb acts as a muscle relaxant and also regulates blood flow.
For those who suffer from fibromyalgia, rhodiola rosea regulates the adrenal glands which may not be producing enough cortisol. Cortisol is used by the body to reduce muscle stress and pain. In some people, the adrenal glands secrete too much cortisol and a person may not have enough to sustain them throughout the day. Rhodiola rosea is used to help the adrenal gland slow down and secrete enough cortisol for the entire day. This helps a person who is suffering from fibrolmyalgia to sleep through the night and function normally throughout the day.
Ashwagandha also relaxes blood vessels and stimulates circulation and has an anti-inflammatory and tonic effect in rheumatic and autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Animal studies have found that naturally occurring steroids in ashwaganda are more potent than treatment with the synthetic steroid hydrocortisone for controlling inflammation. Ashwagandha is also used in the treatment of low back pain and sciatica.

Prostate cancer... herbal thoughts. Click here

Prostate cancer, meaning cancer of the prostate gland, is a common adenocarcinoma in men. The probability of getting prostate cancer rises with age. It is generally treated by surgically removing the small prostate gland or with radiation. It is generally detected by high PSA levels and/or by surgical biopsies.

Inhibiting angiogenesis alone can be effective in some cases of cancer. But for breast and prostate cancer, addition of an aromatase inhibitor may prove to be a more effective regimen because many aspects of the cancer are being targeted at the same time. First, the formation of blood vessels that feed the tumor is prevented. Second, by precluding the action of aromatase, estrogen production is greatly diminished, helping prevent the proliferation of tumor cells.

Treatment with either an angiogenesis or an aromatase inhibitor by itself certainly has merit. But combining both therapies, particularly for estrogen-responsive diseases like breast and prostate cancer, has such tremendous potential success that it should be considered as a complementary treatment.

Although aromatase activity has been detected in malignant prostate cancer tissues, the use of aromatase inhibitors as standard prostate cancer treatment is not yet considered the norm. But they are currently being explored as potential therapy because of emerging research linking aromatase expression, estrogen dominance and prostate cancer.
PriVita is an herbal product designed with estrogen blocking and aromatase inhibition in mind. It contains resveratrol, pomegranate, green tea, turmeric and many other antioxidant ingredients. Resveratrol works through more than a dozen different anticancer mechanisms and selectively targets cancer cells. This single supplement modulates hormones, has several mechanisms that stop cancer cells from multiplying, and even has the ability to destroy cancer cells. One remarkable aspect of resveratrol is that it can be very toxic to cancer cells but does not harm healthy cells; in fact, a person taking resveratrol for protection against prostate cancer may receive cardiovascular benefits as a side effect. Another important aspect of resveratrol is that it may be combined with other phytofactors to potentially enhance its effects. Resveratrol naturally occurs with other polyphenols such as quercetin in plants such as grapes. Pomegranate juice An antioxidant that delays rise in PSA (doubling time indicating tumor growth), as well as helping promote penile blood flow to reduce erectile dysfunction. Indole-3-Carbinol An anti-cancer compound found in cruciferous vegetables that decreases the risk of developing cancer. Green Tea Boosts immune system and induces prostate cancer programmed cell death (apoptosis)

Natural supplements for those who cannot quit smoking

There is a preponderance of evidence that shows a causal association between cigarette smoking and increased risk of developing certain diseases. The diseases most clearly associated with cigarette smoking are: [1] cardiovascular disease; [2] chronic emphysema; and [3] lung cancer. Clearly, the best strategy to prevent smoking-related diseases is to quit smoking. However, the success of smoking cessation programs is notoriously poor, even in those who are highly motivated to stop smoking. Consequently, I believe that we need to explore other ways to minimize smoking-related damage and diseases.

Octovite- consider it for smoker health enhancement

The ingredients in Octovite are good for allergy support, eye health, memory support, and also for health support for smokers!

Specifically, alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E) supplements in the dose range of 400 to 800 iu per day have generally been found to be beneficial (although doses up to 3,200 iu per day have been reported to be safe).

Also, ascorbic acid (vitamin C) has been shown to be beneficial in the dose range of 500 to 2000 mg/day. Because of the biochemical interactions of antioxidants, it seems advisable to use combined antioxidant supplements such as 500-1500 mg/day of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) along with 400-800 mg/day of vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol). It is particularly important to emphasize that high doses of antioxidants work better when taken in combination, rather than as individual supplements.

It is worthy of note that fish oil has a high content of fat-soluble antioxidants. In fact, fish oil supplements have been shown to be efficacious in the prevention of smoking-related diseases. A study of nearly 9,000 current or former smokers concluded that consumption of omega-3 fatty acid, found in fish, had a protective role against chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and the deterioration of lung function in cigarette smokers.

Glutathione is a major cellular antioxidant which is critically important for the integrity of the lung as well as its normal function. Consequently, the depletion of this antioxidant which is a consequence of cigarette smoking has been implicated in the pathogenesis of smoking-related diseases including lung cancer. One supplement which boosts the body stores of glutathione is N-Acetyl cysteine (NAC). NAC has been shown to be effective as a cancer chemopreventive agent at a daily dose of 600 mg.

Some other naturally-occurring compounds and their doses which have been found useful for antioxidant defense against cardiovascular diseases and which may protect against smoking-induced disease include lipoic acid (100 mg/day), taurine (1.5 gm per day), coenzyme Q 10 (90 mg/day or higher), selenium (200 mcg per day), garlic, ginkgo biloba, and red wine polyphenols.

Maqui/Resveratrol/Acai Ultimate- weight control for smokers

This is a supplement that contains Maqui and Acai, which reportedly have weight control properties. Many smokers fear weight gain with quitting. For smokers, those taking the Acai juice or supplements can begin to repair the damage that has been done to the body through years of nicotine ingesting. Although the body will never be in the state of a non-smoker, it can begin to improve appearance and smoking has been known to be one of the culprits of premature aging; Acai berries have the ability to combat premature aging. Here are some benefits of the other ingredients:

Another potential cancer-protective supplement appears to be green tea extract, a powerful antioxidant, which was found to stabilize sister-chromatid exchange in peripheral lymphocytes in smokers to a level comparable to non-smokers.

Resveratrol was shown to lower the blood fats and cholesterol levels, as well as the intrinsic hypertensive agent endothelin-1. In addition, resveratrol was found to be a natural regulator of cellular growth, suggesting cancer-preventive value.

Green Cell Therapy- try to clear some toxins if you smoke

A green food supplement that is dissolved in water or diluted juice would be an excellent supplement. It would give you a quick green boost (minerals) and, since it is a food-source supplement, it is easily absorbed. Wheat grass, barley grass, alfalfa, and chlorella are the main ingredients. They supply an extra boost of vegetable protein, minerals, a wide range of vitamins and chlorophyl (good for your liver). The blood is made acid by smoking and it is important to bring alkalinity back into the system. Green foods such as wheat grass, barley grass, alfalfa and bilberry and the minerals calcium, magnesium and zinc can help with this process. Cigarette smoke releases poisonous heavy metals, including cadmium, into the system and Milk thistle and green foods can offer heavy metal detoxification and general liver support. Green foods and trace minerals also help to stabilize blood sugar, reducing the inevitable sugar cravings. It also contains Grape Seed Extract, Alpha Lipoic acid, and coenzyme q 10.
Green Cell Therapy contains 32 energizing herbs in total.

The FDA has not evaluated any of these statements or this treatment and there is no guarantee of cure with this treatment. Results may vary.

    Shrinking Fibroids

There are all-natural herbal formula that can support the reduction of estrogen through Chinese herbs.
Aromatase is a key enzyme in the synthesis of estrogen. Specifically, it converts androstenedione into estrone and testosterone into estradiol. For instance, evidence shows that breast cancer and prostate cancer tissues overexpress aromatase. Inhibiting aromatase, therefore, plays an important role in suppressing the deleterious action of estrogen on hormone related conditions. This is why Myomin is so helpful in uterine fibroids and other high estrogen disorders such as endometriosis.

An in vivo study demonstrated that Myomin inhibits the aromatase enzyme in the ectopic endometrium and ovarian tissue of rats. Aromatase was expressed markedly in the untreated ectopic endometrium of the positive control group. On the other hand, aromatase expression significantly decreased in the ectopicendometrium of the Myomin group after 28 days.

Similar to the ectopic endometrium tissue, aromatase expression was remarkably high in the untreated ovaries of the positive control group. After 28 days of therapy with Myomin, aromatase expression was significantly reduced in the ovarian tissue.

Image analysis of both the ectopic endometrium and ovarian tissues yielded elevated aromatase expression in the positive control group (108.9 and 149.8,respectively) in both tissues. After administration with Myomin for 28 days, aromatase expression reduced to 34.7 in the endometrium and 47.0 in the ovary. This translates to a 100% reduction of aromatase expression in the endometrium and an 85.6% reduction in the ovary compared to the negative control group.

    Myomin has three functions:

Myomin inhibits the aromatase enzyme, effectively reducing estradiol levels by preventing the conversion of androgens to estrone and estradiol. This allows testosterone and estriol (the good estrogen) to accumulate. Aromatase inhibition has become a worthwhile target in many estrogen-dominant disorders
Myomin competes with estradiol at the estrogen receptors. This function is particularly effective in cases where estrogen receptors are fully stimulated (e.g. after HRT). Competing with estradiol prevents estradiol from binding to receptors. As a result, proliferation of cells is avoided and abnormal growth inhibited.
Myomin increases interferon (IFN) and interleukin-2 (IL-2). IL-2 induces the proliferation of immune cells, enhancing the body's ability to kill tumor cells. IFN stimulates natural killer cells and is active against tumors.
    Myomin Reduces Estradiol Levels

One study performed at the Shanghai Medical School illustrates the effect of Myomin on estradiol levels of mice during pregnancy – a period when estradiol levels are especially high. Two groups of 12 mice each were used in the study. One group was used as the control. The other group was given Myomin beginning 15 days into pregnancy. Three days later (on the 18 th day of the study), the average estradiol level of the Myomin group was 7.22pg/ml, approximately seven times less than the control group. After 6 days of taking Myomin (on the 21 st day of the study), their average estradiol level was 8.81pg/ml while it was 85.98 pg/ml for the control group.

In another study, 90 female mice were divided into three groups. Each group was then given Myomin for 30, 60 and 180 days, respectively. The average estradiol levels after each period was 50.6, 36.6, and 32.4 pg/ml, respectively. After 180 days, the estradiol level stabilized. These results demonstrate long-term use of Myomin reduces estradiol in such a way that it maintains around the normal level. No side effects were reported in this study.

A human study involved 60 postmenopausal women with cysts and/or fibroids. Postmenopausal women were studied because their estradiol levels are more stable than those of premenopausal women. Initially, the average estradiol level was 74.52 pg/ml. After only 10 days on Myomin, their average estradiol level reduced to 38.84 pg/ml. The fibroids, cysts and associated pain gradually reduced.

    Myomin and Estrogen Dominant Disorders

A study from Chang Hai Hospital involved 75 cases of fibrocystic breasts (70 women ages 18 to 52 years old and 5 men ages 62 to 64 years old). Sixty five percent of the women were under 35 years old. 25 cases were in the control group while 50 cases were in the Myomin group. Results of the study revealed that, in 14 cases, the fibrocystic breast completely cleared after 1 month of taking Myomin while, in 16 cases, the fibrocystic breast reduced 50% in size. Among the five men in the study, the cysts cleared completely in 3 cases. Overall, the effectiveness rate of Myomin is more than 60%, compared to the control group's 12% rate. In the Myomin group, in 48 out of 50 cases, associated pain cleared or tremendously reduced (p value <0.05) while in the control group, pain reduced in only 12 out of 25 cases. A 1994 clinical study was conducted on 255 patients with ovarian cysts and endometriosis. After 5 months, Myomin was effective on 147 patients (57%) while some improvements was observed in 87 patients (34.1%). No effect was observed in only 21 patients. Another study was conducted on both pre- and postmenopausal women with ovarian cysts. In one study from the Chang Hai Hospital in Shanghai, China, 85 female patients with ovarian cysts were involved, with ages ranging from 27to 64 years old (more than 50% of them between 34 and 45 years old). Out of the 85, 40 cases were related to endometriosis (hyatidiform cyst), 44 cases were simple ovarian cysts and 1 was a case of ovarian cancer. After 1 to 3 courses of the herbal formula, the cysts and symptoms of 15 patients completely cleared with no recurrence 3 months after the study. In 34 patients, the size of the cyst reduced by 50% and some of the associated symptoms were relieved. Y. Dikansky, DDS from NY, has a 38 year old female patient with an ovarian cyst for 8 years. The cyst was 3.7x6x2. After 3 months on Myomin, the cyst cleared. A 2000 study at the Shanghai Medical School was performed on 60 patients with small uterine fibroids. It revealed that if Myomin is used in combination with Revivin, it is 69.2% effective on uterine fibroids that exceed 2.5cm³ in size. Another alternative would be to combine Myomin with Angiostop, an angiogenesis inhibitor.

The potential applications of aromatase inhibitors in many health conditions are continually increasing. They have been shown to reduce the risk of recurrent breast cancer, especially when used for a longer period. However, the aromatase inhibitor drugs in the market today are indicated for postmenopausal women only. This is very limiting especially since more and more premenopausal women are developing estrogen-related conditions. It is for this reason that the results of these studies on Myomin are significant. As stated before, Myomin has been used in clinical studies and found to be effective in both premenopausal and postmenopausal women with ovarian cysts, fibrocystic breast and endometriosis as well as in men with fibrocystic breast. It is able to produce these favourable results by inhibiting aromatase and consequently reducing estrogen levels.

    Myomin and Men: More Information:
Aromatase inhibition is important in men as well. As men age, testosterone is being more readily converted to estrogen through the aromatase enzyme. Increased estrogen levels can lead to problems such as prostate cancer, prostatitis, and even gynecomastia. Evidence suggests that local aromatase expression in the prostate increases malignancy. In fact, the level of aromatase expression in malignant prostate tissue is comparable to that in breast cancer tissue. As a result, local estrogen levels are also promoted at the prostate tumor site, increasing growth. Aromatase inhibitors like Myomin will help block the action of aromatase, thereby minimizing the depletion of testosterone and reducing estrogen levels.

Myomin for Relief of Menopausal Symptoms

Myomin has also been reported to be effective in reducing the severity and frequency of hot flashes in some women. Although its exact mechanism on this particular function remains to be elucidated, it may be explained by Myomin's ability to compete with estrogen at the cells' estrogen receptors. It should be noted, however, that some women experience worsening of symptoms with Myomin. This is probably due to very low levels of estrogen in these women.

    Myomin for Abdominal Fat

An aromatase inhibitor like Myomin can also reduce abdominal fat. Abdominal obesity is associated with decreased testosterone levels (or hypogonadism) and increased estradiol levels. Hypogonadism leads to the deposition of fat in the abdomen. As fat accumulates, aromatase activity increases at the site, causing more testosterone to be converted into estradiol. Taking testosterone or DHEA supplements is not enough because if aromatase is uncontrolled, then testosterone and DHEA will eventually be converted to estradiol. Adding anaromatase inhibitor like Myomin blocks the action of aromatase, effectively preventing the testosterone from being converted into estradiol. This leads to more muscle mass and the loss of abdominal weight.

PriVita contains natural aromatase inhibitors like myomin, but also contains superfoods like pomegranate and resveratrol.  It also contains high ORAC compounds like Green Tea.

    Supplementation for the Elderly

With regard to nutritional status, elderly people are sometimes even more difficult to nourish than teenagers. Many are resentful or rebellious and eat an unbalanced diet consisting of a limited number of foods. Malnutrition is fairly common in the elderly, with low calorie and protein intakes, as well as many deficiencies of important vitamins and minerals. Many elders eat less because of such reasons as apathy, diminished sense of taste and smell, poor teeth, low income, or inability to obtain or prepare foods, and they further have reduced digestion and absorption, which makes their intake needs even higher than usual. The government RDAs become relatively meaningless for the elderly; they simply need more nutrients!

Many old-age problems, such as insomnia, anorexia, fatigue, depression, diminishing eyesight and hearing, fragile bones, and fractures, are a result of poor diets and nutritional deficiencies. This can also lead to a weakened immune system and more infections. The thymus gland, which produces the important T lymphocytes that mediate the cellular immune system and help to regulate antibody formation, tends to diminish in activity with aging—especially with a low vitality diet, living under stress, and possible emotional factors, such as loss of friends and relatives, anxieties of aging and loneliness, and depression—thus leading to problems of weakened resistance, infections, and sometimes cancer. Tissue weakness due to lack of cellular support can lead to decreased skin protection and increased aging of the skin.

Many people know that, as the years pass, our bodies slowly break down and become more fragile. Decades of wear and tear on our bodies stress out our joints, weather our muscles and make us susceptible to developing or contracting a variety of conditions and diseases.

However, while the effects of aging are inevitable, we can take steps to limiting the damage and living a healthy life as a senior. Along with moderate exercise (about 30 minutes daily), eating healthy and getting the proper nutrition is key to staying active and healthy during the later years of life.

    Prevention through Nutrition
While eating healthily is essential to staying active, getting the proper nutrients is also key to warding off certain health problems that tend to affect the elderly. Some of the conditions that proper nutrition can help prevent include:

    abnormal blood clotting
    arthritis
    cancers
    cataracts and other eye disorders
    circulatory problems
    dementia
    heart disease
    insomnia
    osteoporosis
    Parkinson's disease.

Accumulating scientific research shows that the simple addition of nutritional supplements into a daily routine can provide significant health benefits for the elderly—such as potentially cutting in half the total number of days they are sick. A comprehensive new report released by the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) found that consistent use of multivitamins with minerals and such single-nutrient supplements as calcium and antioxidants (vitamins C and E) demonstrated substantial positive impact on the immune systems of elderly people and played a key role in protecting eye and brain function and maintaining bone mass.

The 100-plus page report—titled The Benefits of Nutritional Supplements—reviewed more than a decade’s-worth of the most scientifically-significant studies measuring the health benefits of multivitamins and other nutritional supplements, including antioxidants (vitamins C and E), calcium, long chain omega-3 fatty acids (fish oils), vitamin D, vitamins B-6 and B-12, and folic acid. The quantifiable impact of supplementation for the elderly was a consistent theme throughout the report.

Research has found that while many Americans’ diets are deficient in the intake of critical nutrients like calcium, vitamin D and vitamin E, these deficiencies are far more common and pronounced among the elderly. In some studies, as many as 80% of subjects had inadequate intakes of four or more key nutrients.
    • Elderly people residing in nursing homes are typically at even greater risk of unrecognized inadequacies of vitamins and minerals. While other nutritional problems commonly observed in the nursing home environment may be difficult to remedy, researchers have recognized the value of supplements in avoiding major “nutrition gaps.”
    • Maintaining bone density is an area of particular importance for elderly women and men alike. One top researcher in the field estimates that proper supplementation with calcium and vitamin D in the elderly could reduce the rate of hip fracture by at least 20%—meaning 40,000 to 50,000 fewer hip fractures each year in the United States—for an average annual savings of $1.5 to $2 billion.

There is growing scientific evidence of the positive impact of antioxidants (vitamins C and E) on both eye and brain function. Studies have linked antioxidants with a reduced risk of developing cataracts and age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the leading cause of blindness in people over the age of 65 in the United States and other Western countries. Other research has found that use of vitamin C and E supplements had a significant protective effect in reducing the risk of dementia, as well as in improving overall cognitive function.

Resveratrol, has a widespread influence on the genetic influences on ageing and there had been high hopes that it would extend lifespan too.
Scientists report that it wards off the effects of age on heart, bones, eyes and muscle of mice on a standard diet, promising a way to curb the factors that make the elderly frail, such as osteoporosis, cataracts, and poor motor coordination. But there was no effect on longevity observed in lean mice. The supplement that contains antioxidants, Vitamins C, E and Resveratrol is Acai/Resveratrol/Macqui- (Antioxidant Formula)

The goji berry contains powerful antioxidants that slow down the aging process, strengthens the immune system and the heart, and has been used to treat ADD/ADHD, allergies, athletic performance, cancer, chronic fatigue, HIV, depression, diabetes, fibromyalgia and anxiety. It contains essential amino acids, vitamin C, vitamin E, Omega 6 fatty acid, Linoleic acid, B-complex vitamins, and more beta-carotene than any other substance on earth, including carrots. Study groups in Asia performed the first scientific research on Goji Berries. In these studies, which are being replicated in America and Europe, elderly subjects were given the berries once a day. 67 percent of the subjects were found to have doubled white-cell counts, increasing greatly in their immune system. Appetite improved among 95 percent of the subjects, 95 percent reported more restful sleep, and 35 percent reported increased sexual energy.

Ginkgo has been used in traditional medicine to treat circulatory disorders and enhance memory. Scientific studies throughout the years have found evidence to support these uses. Although not all studies agree, ginkgo may be especially effective in treating dementia (including Alzheimer's disease) and intermittent claudication (poor circulation in the legs). It also shows promise for enhancing memory in older adults. Laboratory studies have shown that ginkgo improves blood circulation by dilating blood vessels and reducing the stickiness of blood platelets.
In addition to Ginkgo, Octovite contains lutein and bilberry. This is beneficial for the elderly with poor eye health looking to better their vision. Lutein, a powerful antioxidant, is a carotenoid that cannot be produced naturally by the body. Lutein can be found in most fruits and vegetables. A lutein supplement might be for you if you do not consume enough fruits and vegetables.

Combined with bilberry, lutein has been known to prevent/treat cataracts and macular degeneration. If you or your loved one are struggling with your eye sight, Octovite with Lutein and Bilberry is for you.

Dark green vegetables are definitely super foods for the body, in large part due to the antioxidant content. Green Cell Therapy is a green product designed toward flushing out toxins. It also delivers a high antioxidant blend which helps alkalize and energize the body. Green Cell therapy also contains lactobacillus (probiotics). Elderly people should take probiotic supplements, according to scientists. They said the drinks, yoghurts or capsules could help protect older people against bowel conditions, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). People over 60 have about 1,000-fold less "friendly" bacteria in their guts compared with other adults.
Green Cell Therapy also contains 32 important ingredients including astragalus, coenzyme Q 10, chlorella, barley grass, and royal jelly to boost immune system function.

    Ovarian Cancer risk management

The 5-year survival rate for stage 1 is around 90%, whereas for stage III or IV, which is most often the stage at which the tumor is diagnosed, is less than 30%. Vague symptoms of the disease, such as abdominal discomfort, gas, bloating, nausea and urinary urgency, which may not manifest until the disease is advanced makes early detection a challenge.

While you can't completely do away with the risk of ovarian cancer through diet and exercise you will be able to significantly reduce the risk of ovarian cancer as well as all other types of cancer. Staying healthy and watching your weight is an important personal strategy to help your body stay healthy and avoid all types of cancer and diseases.

Various studies have looked at the relationship of obesity and ovarian cancer. Overall, it seems that obese women (those with a body mass index of at least 30) have a higher risk of developing ovarian cancer. A study from the American Cancer Society found a higher rate of death from ovarian cancer in obese women. The risk increased by 50% in the heaviest women.

The risk of developing ovarian cancer gets higher with age. Ovarian cancer is rare in women younger than 40. Most ovarian cancers develop after menopause. Half of all ovarian cancers are found in women over the age of 63.

OVA1 uses a blood sample to test for levels of five proteins that change due to ovarian cancer. The test combines the five separate results into a single numerical score between 0 and 10 to indicate the likelihood that the pelvic mass is benign or malignant.

OVA1 is intended only for women, 18 years and older, who are already selected for surgery because of their pelvic mass. It is not intended for ovarian cancer screening or for a definitive diagnosis of ovarian cancer. Interpreting the test result requires knowledge of whether the woman is pre- or post-menopausal

OVA1 measures serum levels of five proteins whose expression is altered in ovarian cancer—CA-125 II, transthyretin (prealbumin), apolipoprotein A1, b2-microglobulin, and transferrin.

CA 125 is a protein present in normal ovarian tissue and appears in the blood when protective barriers are destroyed, as occurs in cancer or endometriosis. This test is a tumor marker for monitoring disease progression and reoccurrence in ovarian cancer. CA 125 can also be detected in other cancers such as pancreas, liver, colon, breast and lung. This test is not intended as a screening tool for diagnosis of ovarian cancer.Your CA 125 level can be checked with or without fasting.

Transferrin saturation of more than 60% has been identified as a cancer risk factor.

Transthyretin has traditionally been seen as a biomarker for nutritional status, it was previously referred to as prealbumin.

Beta2-Microglobulin is a protein found on the surface of many cells in your body. This test can help determine if you have specific types of cancer affecting white blood cells including chronic lymphocytic leukemia, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and multiple myeloma or kidney disease.

Some supplement suggestions that include herbs that have been researched for ovarian cancer.

Quercetin is a powerful anti-cancer agent which stops chemical signals that give ovarian cancer cells a growth advantage over healthy cells. Green peppers are full of quercetin. In supplement form, the generally recommended dose is 125-250 mg 3 times daily, between meals. Note: the centerpiece of the oleander extract contains small amounts of quercetin. Do not take quercetin with cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimunne) or nifedipine (Procardia).

Astragalus-Increases production of immune-system chemical interleukin-2 (IL -2), which fights cancer and the human papilloma virus (HPV). Activates gene pS3. The generally recommended dose is 500-1,000 mg 3 times daily.

Milk thistle extracts inhibit growth of ovarian cancer cells and prevent angiogenesis. Also helps protect and regenerate the liver. The generally recommended dose is from 400 to 1000 mg or more per day.

Plant polyphenols such as resveratrol in tablet/supplement form. Resveratrol is a type of polyphenol called a phytoalexin, a class of compounds produced as part of a plant's defense system against disease which is produced in the plant in response to an invading fungus, stress, injury, infection or ultraviolet irradiation. Resveratrol has been shown to reduce tumor incidence in animals by affecting one or more stages of cancer development, including ovarian cancer. Red wine contains high levels of resveratrol, as do grapes, raspberries, peanuts and other plants.

Selenium is a powerful cancer fighter that also protects the liver and is essential for proper iodine utilization. Most women who get ovarian cancer are deficient in selenium, The generally recommended dose without medical supervision is 200 to 400 mcg daily, although nutritionally-oriented physicians may use as much as 900 to 2,000 mcg selenium from methylselenocysteine daily as part of a comprehensive cancer treatment protocol.
Some natural substances (pomegranate, turmeric, resveratrol) compete with estradiol (the most active form of estrogen) at estrogen receptor sites, and can therefore be especially effective for estrogen-dominant conditions including fibroids, ovarian cysts, PMS and hormone related weight gain, among others. It also acts by inhibiting the aromatase enzyme, stopping the conversion of androgens into estrogen. Additionally, PriVita can also induce more interferon in the system, which activates natural killer cells, a major component of the immune system.

    Case studies

    1. I took it to evaluate it's weight loss properties... but I had bursitis of my hip off and on for 6 months that was only relieved by rest... and in the course of taking this medicine, everyone noticed that I stopped limping.
    2. So then someone with a knee problem took it to see if it worked... it did
    3. Then someone who was a runner and had sciatica took it, that got better and he got rid of "love handles" he hadn't been able to get rid of.
    4. Then I recommended it to a patient who was on Celebrex, before that she had been on Vioxx, and I asked her to try it for her pain to see if we could decrease her decade long dependence on prescription pain medicines. It worked for her pain that first bottle.
    5. Because it has such great antioxidant power, I suggested it to a person who had been trying to get pregnant for 4 years. She had seen the infertility specialist and was otherwise normal and healthy. She had a 4 year old son. One bottle of this, and she was pregnant the next month.

    Maqui/Resveratrol/Acai the powerful antioxidant

This vitamin is all natural. Most of the ingredients can be found in a variety of foods such as cranberries, grapes, and blueberries. It provides a blend of the highest quality antioxidants that are known to fight cancer, joint inflammation, and cardiovascular disease. It also has a blend of the most effective weight loss supplements and aids on the market today. Resveratrol is thought to have some estrogenic activity, so if you are dealing with hot flashes and wish to avoid hormones, it would be a good supplement. Resveratrol is also thought to have blood sugar lowering properties. The Macqui is the highest antioxidant value of any known fruit. It helps to support healthy inflammatory functions, and healthy aging. This supplement also contains green tea and grapeseed extract.

    Besides that it also:

    • kills cancer cells without harming healthy tissue
    • is effective in lowering LDL cholesterol levels
    • inhibits the abnormal formation of blood clots
I have recommended this supplement for my patients with bursitis, arthritis, and other inflammatory conditions, and they have reported improvement with those conditions.

Grapeseed extract is prescribed by doctors in Europe for a variety of vascular disorders, collagen damage, water retention and arthritis. Grape seed extract also helps to reduce or eliminate the symptoms of leg cramps, varicose veins, diabetes, and numbness in the extremities
