5 reasons to consider a vaginal steam

The Vaginal steam or V-steam, consists of sitting naked on an open-seated chair, over a boiling pot of herbal steam for 20 to 30 minutes. Inspired by a similar remedy long used in some Asian cultures, vaginal steaming is taking American women by storm, with spas and holistic health centers offering the service for between $35 and $75.

Hormones can be absorbed by the vagina... why not herbs?

The highly aromatic medicinal herbs quickly absorb into the bloodstream and circulate directly to every tissue of the body, delivering their therapeutic powers to each and every cell. Herbal steam simultaneously cleanses the body from the inside and the outside, providing a doubly detoxifying effect as well as a very relaxing, soothing experience.

Other cultures have been using vaginal steaming. In Sudan, for example, in the days leading up to their wedding, brides-to-be sit on a hole in the ground that emits perfumed smoke, in the belief that the embers smooth and tighten their skin. Women in Korea, where they refer to the vaginal steam bath as 'chai-yok', often do it after their monthly periods. And in parts of South America, women call the intimate steam cleanses 'bajos'.

1. Fertility
The therapeutic effects of thermotherapy and aromatherapy contribute to the effectiveness of this treatment. Overall the bath aids as a uterine lavage or internal cleanse of the membranes that often accumulate incompletely flushed debris/fluids from cycle to cycle. In addition, the bath introduces healing warmth and softens and nourishes internal membranes. The baths can safely be combined with either natural cycles or any cycle involving assisted reproductive technology such as IUI or IVF. Consider adding vaginal steam baths to your self care routine if you experience painful periods, dark blood at the beginning or ending of your menstrual cycle, irregular periods, fibroids, cysts, endometriosis, cervical stenosis, vaginal dryness or painful intercourse.

2. Hemorrhoids
The steam can be very soothing for hemorrhoids and fissures of the rectum.

3. Recurrent vaginal infections
One of the herbs used in the steam baths is mugwort, which contains natural antifungal properties, and anti-viral wormwood

 4. Ease menstrual cramps
Heat is a useful tool for managing muscular pain. Taking a herbal steam bath is an excellent method of speeding up the healing process of hurt tissues and muscles. Heat allows the blood vessels to enlarge which boosts the blood circulation, letting increased oxygen arrive at injured parts of the body. This has the twofold effect of pain reduction and accelerating the bodies healing response.

5. Fibroids and endometriosis
If toxins are at the root cause for fibroids and endometriosis, the herbal steam is a great way to combat these conditions.

 Directions:

Obtain vaginal steam bath herbs from Natural Womens Care (call 832-237-4200).
The contents of one bag of herbs is enough for 2-3 vaginal steam baths.
In a large pot containing about a gallon of water, place the herbs.
Bring to a soft boil for 5 minutes then steep for 10 minutes with the lid on.
Place the pot of water/herbs under a slatted chair, lawn chair, or even in your toilet.
Sit over the pot without underwear.
Be careful to make sure the water/herbs have cooled enough so that you do not burn yourself!!
Drape yourself with a blanket from your waist down to the floor so that no cold air is introduced.
Sit over your pot of herbal steam for approximately 20 minutes.
The side effects of a steam may include a temporary increase in menstrual flow (more dark fluids, debris) and/or menses may start earlier that usual due to a cleansing effect.

*Vaginal steam baths are contraindicated during pregnancy!

How to have a fresher and less itchy vagina

Many women have suffered from yeast infections or bacterial vaginal infection at least once in their lifetime. And a good deal of both men and women may also have suffered from viral skin infections such as genital warts and herpes.

Essentials Oils for Treating Yeast Infections

Many women have probably suffered from yeast infection at least once during their lifetime. This infection is usually characterized by an itchy, painful and burning sensation along with "cottage cheese" or thick vaginal discharge. Yeast infections can be caused by a number of organisms. One the most common causes of this problem is Candida albicans, a type of fungus, which exists in the normal healthy vagina.

Among the most effective essential oils against the common yeast infection are lavender and tea tree oil. All of these essential oils have strong antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, these oils were proven effective in inhibiting the growth of the Candida fungus in laboratory experiments.

Aromatherapy Treatments for Viral Skin Infections

Genital warts and herpes are viral infections, which commonly affect both men and women. Genital warts are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV) while herpes is caused by the herpes simplex virus.

One of the most effective ways to treat genital warts is by applying essential oils directly to the warts two to four times daily. When essential oils are used full strength, they must be dabbed directly to the warts only since they can easily burn sensitive skin. Sexibalm is blended to be safe for delicate skin, including the vagina and anus. It has been used extensively in this fashion.

Do you have eczema or psoriasis? Do you have flare ups in your genital region? Sexibalm contains a Coconut Oil and Shea Butter base, along with the essential oils, that will not thin your skin like steroid creams.

Sexibalm is can also be used as an after shave skin conditioner.

Simply put, razor bumps — also known as shaving bumps and pseudofolliculitis barbae — are the consequence of too-close shaving. Hair that's cut too short can curl back into the skin, resulting in tender, swollen bumps that can be skin-colored or reddened. Also, bacteria on the skin can enter through abrasions. The essential oils in Sexibalm has activity against this bacteria.

Your immune system reacts to ingrown hair the same way it reacts to splinters, producing inflammation and pus to rid your body of the "foreign" substance. Because of this, razor bumps aren't technically considered an infection. As hair continues to grow under the skin, however, the ongoing irritation can lead to folliculitis, an infection of the hair follicles. Although most folliculitis cases are mild, "deep" folliculitis can result in permanent hair loss and scarring.

With proper skin care, you can protect yourself from razor bumps. But if they do appear, home remedies can help relieve the irritation and speed healing. Persistent and painful razor bumps — especially those that become infected — should be evaluated and treated by a doctor or dermatologist.

Who Gets Razor Bumps?

Anybody who shaves — men, women, and even children — can develop razor bumps. No shaved skin is immune, including the face, armpits, legs, and pubic area. Other hair-removal techniques, such as plucking, waxing, and electrolysis, can also cause razor bumps.

Sexibalm is also great for women who work out in spandex and have topical itching. This oil is a good moisture barrier and helps itching!

Douching vs nourishing aromatherapy pellets

The word "douche" means to wash or soak in French. Douching is washing or cleaning out the vagina (birth canal) with water or other mixtures of fluids. Most douches are prepackaged mixes of water and vinegar. You can buy these products at drug and grocery stores. The mixtures usually come in a bottle and can be squirted into the vagina through a tube or nozzle.

Women douche because they mistakenly believe it gives many benefits. Women who douche say they do it to:

Clean the vagina
Rinse away blood after monthly periods
Get rid of odor
Avoid sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
Prevent pregnancy

Douching is common among women in the United States. It’s estimated that 20 to 40 percent of American women 15 to 44 years old douche regularly. About half of these women douche each week. Higher rates of douching are seen in teens, African-American women, and Hispanic women.

Most doctors and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommend that women don’t douche. Douching can change the delicate balance of vaginal flora (organisms that live in the vagina) and acidity in a healthy vagina. One way to look at it is in a healthy vagina there are both good and bad bacteria. The balance of the good and bad bacteria help maintain an acidic environment. Any changes can cause an over growth of bad bacteria which can lead to a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis. Plus, if you have a vaginal infection, douching can push the bacteria causing the infection up into the uterus, fallopian tubes, and pelvic cavity.

According to womenshealth.gov, research shows that women who douche regularly have more health problems than women who don’t. Doctors are still unsure whether douching causes these problems. Douching may simply be more common in groups of women who tend to have these issues. Health problems linked to douching include:

Vaginal irritation
Bacterial vaginosis (BV)
STIs
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
Some STIs, BV, and PID can all lead to serious problems during pregnancy. These include infection in the baby, problems with labor, and early delivery.

Due to the fact that women like to douche to feel fresh and clean, but frequently go to the doctor because this process does not always work, I developed a vaginal insert using essential aromatherapy oils. These are made with coconut which moisturizes the vagina and essential oils to enhance the ability of the vagina to withstand infections. The aromatherapy inserts contain lactobacillus, so if you are eating yogurt to help rid your body of yeast infections, you have another way to apply it also.

Vaginal Maintainence, Chronic Yeast, Bacterial Vaginosis, HPV

Patent pending Aromatherapy vaginal balm call 832 237 4200 to order

Most women suffer from minor vaginal infections at some time in their life.
Symptoms can include chronic vaginal discharge, which may have an unpleasant odor, itch, or painful intercourse. Yeast, bacterial vaginosis, and HPV can be there together or separately. Bladder infections can occur…with bacteria that may be found in the vagina. These are often treated with antibiotics, leading to further disturbances in the vaginal flora. This causes dryness, discomfort, and odor.

Using nutraceuticals (natural food, herbal or chemical products) can relieve these symptoms allowing you to be more comfortable and productive.

A factor leading to growth of unfriendly organisms is douching with feminine hygiene products. These products can change both the both the acid-base balance (pH) of the vagina as well as remove the protective mucus in the vagina. Both factors can lead to greater irritation and promote the growth of bacteria and yeast. I recommend that women not douche at all.

Many women treat themselves for yeast infections with over the counter antifungal agents when they assume that they have an infection (frequently they don't even have yeast, but are irritated by another organism). This treatment may alter the content of the normal vaginal flora by destroying lactobacillus, the predominant normal vaginal bacteria.

Sexibalm is naturally soothing, prepared with a base derived from coconut and palm oils.  Coconut contains capric/caprylic acid and lauric acid both of which have antiviral, antifungal, and antimicrobial properties.

I created the balm to address many of these complaints as I realize that for many people, it is frustrating to just do nothing and wait.

It is one product that addresses many issues:

Sexual health- coconut oil is a good lubricant
Bacterial Vaginosis- lavender oil is a good deodorizer
HPV support- tea tree, green tea, help manage bacteria and viruses
Yeast infection- tea tree and coconut have antifungal activity
E. coli or (Group Beta Strep) GBS in the vagina– can enter urethra & cause UTI’s.
Vaginal dryness-coconut oil lubrication aid and promotes good skin hydration
Vaginal Health- lactobacillus is found in a healthy vagina
Vaginal deodorizer- pleasant smelling, made with natural ingredients
Vaginal rash and Skin rash- take advantage of the anti-bacterial and anti-fungal power of coconut oil, which treats skin irritations. Just place on affected skin because sometimes the irritation on the outside is as bothersome as the inside. If you suffer from frequent boils, use this regularly on the skin to battle bacteria. If you get boils under your armpits, or in the pubic area, use there also.

I can recommend a few other things to do for vaginal discomforts:

1. You SHOULD starve yeast from their food source -which is sugar and simple carbs - and I mean ALL of it. I also suggest limiting the following: alcohol, vinegar (which is in everything), caffeine, all yeasted products, and all fungus products (mushrooms). Eat high protein, healthy fat, nuts and seeds and tons of veggies. Keep your carb servings focused on complex carbs (brown rice, quinoa, buckwheat, millet, etc.).

2- Use herbs to kill off the yeast- there are many great remedies out there, contact you local herbalist, or try my Octocleanse Herbal Parasite and Yeast Detox, which contains pau d' arco, grapefruit extract and garlic.

3- Replace your damaged flora with healthy probiotics. The function of probiotics is to perform the work that your normal gut is supposed to do while your normal flora is working on re-colonizing. Vitagreen has lactobacillus

4- Stabilize your pH, abnormal organisms thrive on an abnormal pH.  Vitagreen contains wheat grass and alkalinizing green vegetables like spinach and kale to keep your pH on track.

Sexibalm is designed for the purpose of relieving vaginal pruritis (inflammatory conditions), and reducing the recurrence of vaginal infections.

Sexibalm is my own special proprietary blend. I use a coconut oil base, which is impregnated with tea tree and lavender oil.

It slowly melts at body temperature when inserted into the vagina. It is well absorbed, decreasing leakage. Keep refrigerated until use.

If you think your husband is re-infecting you,  apply Sexibalm directly to his genitals. Rinsing after 20 minutes is optional.

For female use, for best results apply at night when supine, so it goes toward your cervix and not your underwear. Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
To be used by females 13 or older. Use nightly for 3-14 days for acute infections. For chronic or chronic recurring infections, use nightly for 2-4 weeks.

Prevention: Use daily, at bedtime, during menses, for four consecutive months. Use with panty liner.

For anal irritation, this product may be used rectally. Non-laxative.
