How to Begin Healing Rosacea From Within

Rosacea skin care starts from within as you attempt to cleanse your internal organs, strengthen your immune system, promote intestinal health, and strengthen your skin through proper nutrition.

If you have rosacea, there are alternative treatments that can work with, or in lieu of, standard medical treatments.

Clinical trials show how diet plays a role in managing the inflammatory process of rosacea.

The National Rosacea Society recently polled more than 3,000 sufferers about which foods appeared to cause a flare-up of their condition. Among the top food triggers were alcohol (especially red wine), hot beverages, hot spices (primarily cayenne and red pepper), citrus fruit, and tomatoes. It is interesting to note these are also common food intolerances for many people who don’t have rosacea.

Cherries, blackberries, and blueberries are vascular constrictors, which actually assist in reducing redness.

Rosacea Causes

There are no conclusive studies that can pinpoint exactly what causes rosacea. That is partly where there are not yet rosacea cures. Some possibilities that researchers think MAY cause rosacea include:

Excessively acidic diet (Green Cell Therapy is alkalinizing)
An immune system disorder (Green Cell Therapy provides a boost)
Microscopic mites on the skin (Octocleanse may help)
The helicobacter pylori bacteria (Octocleanse may help)
Stress
Heredity
A history of blistering sunburns

First, begin by doing a parasite cleanse. Parasites are persistent little creatures that can cause all sorts of health problems for people without their knowing the actual cause.

If you have hair loss, rough skin or a tendency to flush around the facial region, you may have a parasitic mite known as demodex brevis or demodex folliculorum. This parasite can live in the hair follicle. It sucks out the nutrients at the root of the hair. The follicle becomes enlarged and infected causing loss of hair and inflammation. When living on the skin, it feeds on nutrients in the sebaceous glands, they become infected and inflamed and the skin may then thicken. Acne Rosacea can also be caused by this parasite.
After you have eliminated parasite and other unhealthy and destructive toxins from your colon, you’ll want to support the good bacteria in your digestive tract by eating some live culture yogurt or a good live bacteria supplement. *Green Cell Therapy has probiotics*

Second, purge and support your liver through any means you find that can accomodate your tolerances. Once you have cleansed yourself of parasites and improved your liver’s ability to cleanse the blood going through your body, you need to turn your attention to your digestive system. A good colon cleanse can help you excrete a large amount of toxins and may help you feel younger just by getting pounds of unnecessary garbage off the walls of your colon. Having a cleaner colon leads to better nutrition being absorbed by the skin which can lead to healthier skin.

Natural treatments for rosacea

What is Rosacea?

More than 14 million people in North America have rosacea, a chronic skin condition. Women, fair-skinned people between the ages of 30 and 60 are more likely to be affected.

Symptoms and signs of rosacea include:

Areas of redness on your face
Small red bumps or pustules on your nose, cheeks, forehead, and/or chin
Small blood vessels on your nose and/or cheeks (called telangiectasia)
Tendency to flush or blush
Rosacea may also result in a red, bulbous nose, called rhinophyma, or a burning or gritty sensation in your eyes, called ocular rosacea.

Rosacea sufferers should avoid foods that may trigger the condition such as spicy foods, coffee and alcohol. A diet that includes plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and a lot of water is recommended.

Antibiotics have anti-inflammatory effects that seem to suppress the inflammation associated with rosacea. The most common oral antibiotics prescribed for rosacea include tetracycline, doxycycline, and minocycline.
Because oral antibiotics can produce unwanted side effects, their long-term use is not recommended. You'll most likely be prescribed these drugs until your symptoms have been brought under control, at which point topical medications, lifestyle changes, and laser and/or light treatments will be used to keep further flare-ups at bay.

Oatmeal

First, oatmeal is a potent antipruritic. The moisturizing properties of colloidal oatmeal alleviate itch due to dry skin. These properties, in turn, promote protection of barrier function, which is often impaired in rosacea patients. Oatmeal also works as a skin protectant and enhancer of barrier function as the proteins and polysaccharides bind to skin to provide a protective barrier, while proteins buffer both acids and bases.

Digestive Enzymes

Some people with rosacea have indigestion, especially after eating fatty foods. One study found a deficiency of the pancreatic enzyme lipase, an enzyme that helps to digest fat.

When the rosacea patients in the study were given pancreatic enzyme supplements with meals, their symptoms of indigestion and rosacea both improved.

Milk Thistle can help with Rosacea because it improves overall liver function and helps detoxify the skin. Chlorella, alfalfa and other "green" foods are good for rosacea because they supply phytonutrients that help to improve skin health. (Digestive enzymes, milk thistle, chlorella, alfalfa, and other green foods are found in Green Cell Therapy below)

B Vitamins

Inadequate riboflavin, caused by insufficient dietary intake or poor absorption in the digestive tract, may be associated with rosacea.

Food Intolerances

Some alternative practitioners have found clinically that certain foods may be associated with rosacea symptoms. Foods may cause the release of chemicals that dilate blood vessels and cause flushing.

An inexpensive and effective way of identifying food intolerance is through an elimination and challenge diet, which involves removing allergenic foods from the diet for one to two weeks then systematically introducing them into the diet to isolate the foods that cause reactions. Supervision by a health practitioner is recommended.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar taken orally is used as a home remedy for rosacea. It is thought to stimulate the release of digestive enzymes and help normalize the bacterial balance in the intestines. Consult a health practitioner before trying apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar is available in liquid and tablet form. There have been reports linking use of the tablets with esophageal injury.

Red Tea

It may sound ironic, but red tea, which comes from the leaves of a South African shrub, can actually alleviate the redness associated with rosacea. Rich in quercetin, an anti-inflammatory agent that inhibits flushing and irritation, natural red tea can be used as a facial wash, as reported in "The Doctors Book of Home Remedies." Brew the tea, and let it steep for 30 minutes. Allow it to cool in the refrigerator, and then saturate a wash cloth in the liquid. Place the cool, saturated wash cloth on your face for 10 to 15 minutes.

Licorice

A recommended natural treatment for rosaecea. The topical application of this herb has shown improvement in people with mild and moderate symptoms. The anti-inflammatory properties of a chemical present in licorice called licochalcone help to reduce skin itchiness.

Niacinamide or vitamin B3 based moisturizer is considered an effective natural treatment for rosacea. The research conducted on niacinamide has shown its potency in improving the skin barrier and alleviating skin inflammation. These natural herbs and extracts are advised as add on treatments for rosacea with other oral and topical prescriptions.

Green Tea Cream

The use of green tea has long been studied for a variety of diseases. The results of a recent small study found that cream containing 2% polyphenone (green tea extract) improved the symptoms of rosacea as much as 70%. Green tea extract contains many anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-ageing properties which help to reduce skin redness, reduce papules and pustules as well as soothing the skin.

Lavender

Lavender is one of those herbs that has been used for hundreds of years to treat anything from insomnia and depression to muscular spasms and pain. Lavender has natural anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibiotic and calming properties that make it a great choice for many problems. Even though there is no conclusive evidence regarding the use of lavender for skin problems, there does seem to be support for the use of lavender to help in healing the skin. Lavender should not be used directly on the skin as this can cause irritation. It should be mixed with a cream or carrier oil.

Tea Tree Oil

Again, like lavender and chamomile, tea tree oil possesses anti-inflammatory properties and is great for treating boils, spots and inflamed skin. However, tea tree oil should be used with caution because it has resulted in allergic contact eczema and dermatitis. Never take it internally and only use it mixed into a cream or carrier oil.

We have a coconut based balm in the office that contains green tea, lavender, and tea tree oil. Call 832-237-4200

The use of Omnilux™ light therapy in Rosacea (as light treatment alone or using the balm with essential oils) offers excellent efficacy in erythema reduction and overall facial cosmetic enhancement. In addition, the anti-inflammatory effects of the Omnilux revive™ treatments act to prolong remission of the condition. Treatments are twice weekly for 5 weeks.

Digestive enzymes for everyone?

Without taking digestive enzymes, you can't digest food properly, especially when the food is cooked. Because the enzymes in the food have been killed by the processing and cooking. Even fresh fruits and vegetables, unless they are organically grown, are usually irradiated, which kills the enzymes in them.

This destruction of the enzymes in food, causes or makes worse, virtually every digestive disorder there is. Gas, indigestion, acid reflux, you name it. And is an underlying cause of many different types of health problems throughout your body. As you will shortly learn.

This happens because the human digestive system developed on a diet of raw foods containing live enzymes. Your body isn't equipped to handle a diet of mostly cooked food. It causes us to age quicker and fall ill more often.

Low levels of enzymes are found in diabetes, heart disease and most every degenerative disease. And these low levels result from the lack of live digestive enzymes in your diet.

Digestive System Basics

When your food is poorly digested, you absorb nutrients that aren't fully broken down or usable. Which causes many problems.

Because your immune system will attack and defend your body against partially digested foods that get into the bloodstream. The immune system doesn't recognize it as food. It sees a toxic invader, and destroys the food. When this happens you don't get the benefit of that food, and you weaken your immune system by using it in a role it shouldn't be involved in.

In other words, you are using the immune system and metabolic enzymes daily to clean the bloodstream of undigested food particles, instead of having their full strength used to protect and repair your body.

According to the father of enzyme research, Dr. Edward Howell, the digestive system is designed to break down approximately half of the food we eat.

Dr. Howell was one of America's pioneering enzyme researchers and in his classic book "Enzyme Nutrition" he explains how the digestive system is designed to work. Before fire was discovered, man and animals alike could only eat raw food, like raw meat, plants or fruits and vegetables.

He explained how raw foods have a 40/60 ratio of enzymes. Which means a raw food like an apple has live food enzymes within the apple which break down and digest 40 to 60 percent of that apple.

This leaves the remaining 40 to 60% of the apple to be broken down by the digestive system.

Raw foods are enzymatically alive which means these foods have live enzymes within them to help digest 40 to 60% of that particular food. Cooked and processed foods are enzymatically dead which means there are no live enzymes within that food to help digestion.

These dead foods stress the digestive system, the pancreas, the immune system, and your whole body.

Before genetic engineering and irradiation, our raw foods had the proper 40/60 ratio. But today many raw foods are genetically altered or they have been irradiated for longer shelf life, killing the enzymes in the food. Which means that even the raw food we eat today could be in a 20/80 ratio or worse...

On top of this, we are already asking the human body to break down 100% of the cooked and processed foods and supplements we eat, and now, possibly 80% or more of the raw foods we eat.

This stresses your body, every single day!

The digestive process works like this:

First, you chew your food, and it mixes with the saliva in the mouth. The saliva has an enzyme called amylase which starts the predigestion of carbohydrates. The more you chew, the better.

Then, the food is swallowed and goes down the esophagus into the upper portion of the stomach. The food stays here for about 45 to 60 minutes to predigest. That is, it will predigest if you are eating foods containing live enzymes because the body does not supply any enzymes at this stage of digestion.

Then the food goes into the lower part of the stomach where trypsin, pepsin and hydrochloric acid break it down further. Next, the food moves into the small intestines where the pancreas produces digestive enzymes to complete digestion.

Then the nutrients pass through the intestinal wall and into the blood stream where metabolic enzymes utilize these nutrients in all parts of the body and in every living cell.

Ways To Improve Your Digestion

The first way is in the predigestive stage, which lasts approximately 45 to 60 minutes in the upper part of the stomach. Dr. Howell calls this the enzyme stomach because this is where the live enzymes within a raw food start predigestion of that food.

You can improve your digestion by adding a digestive enzyme to break down the food as it sits in the upper stomach.

It can then predigest completely, which improves the entire digestive process, and your health.

This is very important because this helps conserve your body’s enzyme supply.

Lack of digestive enzymes affects the pancreas. Remember the digestive system is designed to break down approximately half of the food. When we eat cooked and processed foods, we're asking the digestive system to break down 100% of the food we've eaten. This means every time we eat these foods, the pancreas must produce twice as many enzymes and the pancreas is working double time. Doing this year after year puts a tremendous strain on the pancreas. And eventually stresses our immune system and reduces our metabolic enzyme supply.

Autopsies have been done on people that eat mostly cooked and processed foods. The results show the pancreas is dangerously enlarged, poorly functioning and quite often on the verge of breaking down.

When your enzyme supplies runs low, you die. There are three ways to conserve your enzyme supply so that it doesn’t run low.

Eating organically grown raw food is one way. The second way is to take digestive enzymes every time you eat, and the third way is to take digestive enzymes on an empty stomach.

Natural supplements for those who cannot quit smoking

There is a preponderance of evidence that shows a causal association between cigarette smoking and increased risk of developing certain diseases. The diseases most clearly associated with cigarette smoking are: [1] cardiovascular disease; [2] chronic emphysema; and [3] lung cancer. Clearly, the best strategy to prevent smoking-related diseases is to quit smoking. However, the success of smoking cessation programs is notoriously poor, even in those who are highly motivated to stop smoking. Consequently, I believe that we need to explore other ways to minimize smoking-related damage and diseases.

Octovite- consider it for smoker health enhancement

The ingredients in Octovite are good for allergy support, eye health, memory support, and also for health support for smokers!

Specifically, alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E) supplements in the dose range of 400 to 800 iu per day have generally been found to be beneficial (although doses up to 3,200 iu per day have been reported to be safe).

Also, ascorbic acid (vitamin C) has been shown to be beneficial in the dose range of 500 to 2000 mg/day. Because of the biochemical interactions of antioxidants, it seems advisable to use combined antioxidant supplements such as 500-1500 mg/day of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) along with 400-800 mg/day of vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol). It is particularly important to emphasize that high doses of antioxidants work better when taken in combination, rather than as individual supplements.

It is worthy of note that fish oil has a high content of fat-soluble antioxidants. In fact, fish oil supplements have been shown to be efficacious in the prevention of smoking-related diseases. A study of nearly 9,000 current or former smokers concluded that consumption of omega-3 fatty acid, found in fish, had a protective role against chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and the deterioration of lung function in cigarette smokers.

Glutathione is a major cellular antioxidant which is critically important for the integrity of the lung as well as its normal function. Consequently, the depletion of this antioxidant which is a consequence of cigarette smoking has been implicated in the pathogenesis of smoking-related diseases including lung cancer. One supplement which boosts the body stores of glutathione is N-Acetyl cysteine (NAC). NAC has been shown to be effective as a cancer chemopreventive agent at a daily dose of 600 mg.

Some other naturally-occurring compounds and their doses which have been found useful for antioxidant defense against cardiovascular diseases and which may protect against smoking-induced disease include lipoic acid (100 mg/day), taurine (1.5 gm per day), coenzyme Q 10 (90 mg/day or higher), selenium (200 mcg per day), garlic, ginkgo biloba, and red wine polyphenols.

Maqui/Resveratrol/Acai Ultimate- weight control for smokers

This is a supplement that contains Maqui and Acai, which reportedly have weight control properties. Many smokers fear weight gain with quitting. For smokers, those taking the Acai juice or supplements can begin to repair the damage that has been done to the body through years of nicotine ingesting. Although the body will never be in the state of a non-smoker, it can begin to improve appearance and smoking has been known to be one of the culprits of premature aging; Acai berries have the ability to combat premature aging. Here are some benefits of the other ingredients:

Another potential cancer-protective supplement appears to be green tea extract, a powerful antioxidant, which was found to stabilize sister-chromatid exchange in peripheral lymphocytes in smokers to a level comparable to non-smokers.

Resveratrol was shown to lower the blood fats and cholesterol levels, as well as the intrinsic hypertensive agent endothelin-1. In addition, resveratrol was found to be a natural regulator of cellular growth, suggesting cancer-preventive value.

Green Cell Therapy- try to clear some toxins if you smoke

A green food supplement that is dissolved in water or diluted juice would be an excellent supplement. It would give you a quick green boost (minerals) and, since it is a food-source supplement, it is easily absorbed. Wheat grass, barley grass, alfalfa, and chlorella are the main ingredients. They supply an extra boost of vegetable protein, minerals, a wide range of vitamins and chlorophyl (good for your liver). The blood is made acid by smoking and it is important to bring alkalinity back into the system. Green foods such as wheat grass, barley grass, alfalfa and bilberry and the minerals calcium, magnesium and zinc can help with this process. Cigarette smoke releases poisonous heavy metals, including cadmium, into the system and Milk thistle and green foods can offer heavy metal detoxification and general liver support. Green foods and trace minerals also help to stabilize blood sugar, reducing the inevitable sugar cravings. It also contains Grape Seed Extract, Alpha Lipoic acid, and coenzyme q 10.
Green Cell Therapy contains 32 energizing herbs in total.

The FDA has not evaluated any of these statements or this treatment and there is no guarantee of cure with this treatment. Results may vary.

Quit Smoking… Natural Help

Quitting smoking can be extremely difficult. The physical withdrawal symptoms can be quite extreme and the psychological addiction can sink its claws into your mind stronger than you think.

There are several herbs with a traditional reputation for helping people quit smoking. These herbs exert varying effects that will ease the process of smoking cessation. This is a description of how some of the products contained here will aid smoking cessation.

Have you tried Zyban and/or Chantix?
Were they too expensive? Were you afraid of the side effects?

Did you try quitting cold turkey, but the stress and cravings were too much?

It is very difficult to stop smoking. All the popular advice and therapies do not have great success rates.
Doctor's advice = 2%
Psychological help = 2%
Hypnosis = poss 23%
Nicotine gum = 13%
Nicotine patches = 13%

Acupuncture and exercise can also help.
Hypnosis does appear to have a good success rate, but properly monitored data is difficult to obtain. Overall, willpower and simply going 'cold turkey' appears to achieve the best results. Maybe trying herbs in conjunction may increase success.

Herbalith

Valerian: One of the premier sedative herbs used to aid people with anxiety, stress, and insomnia. Valerian is clearly one of the herbs of choice in smoking cessation to deal with the issues of insomnia, restlessness, and anxiety.

Passion Flower: promotes calmness and relaxation, which will help with the irritability you may experience.

L-Tryptophan: a naturally occurring amino acid, widely believed to help calm cigarette cravings as you try to quit smoking. It builds the neurotransmitter serotonin. This neurotransmitter is extremely important in balancing our sleep patterns and filtering all sensory input, so the brain is not overloaded or overwhelmed by excessive sensory information it receives. Optimal levels of serotonin also help us to be more hopeful, optimistic, patient and more able to respond thoughtfully and carefully.

Theanine: a natural amino acid found small amounts in green tea and certain mushrooms. As a supplement, it crosses into the brain and completes against exciting neurotransmitters—this directly competes with nicotine. L-theanine has a wonderful calming effect with little potential for side effects and is a perfect adjunct for smoking cessation. It also improves focus and concentration. It does not cause sedation during the day, but does improve natural sleep at night.

Tyrosine: is a nonessential amino acid, meaning it can be made within the human body. It is a building block for several important neurotransmitters, which help nerve cells communicate and affect mood. This may help reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms of nicotine.

Rather than acting as a herb to stop smoking, turmeric is thought to aid in the removal the cancer causing agents from the lungs.
Rhodigandha

Ashwagandha: derived from a plant belonging to the pepper family, found in India and Africa. Steroid chemicals known as withanolides, present in the roots of the plant, are felt to provide for many of its medicinal properties. Being similar to cortisol, withanolides may provide feedback to the brain, thus moderating cortisol secretion by the adrenal glands. These chemicals also have anti-inflammatory effects and direct calming effects on the brain. Ashwagandha also contains potent anti-oxidants. The net effect is increased tolerance to stress, thus ashwagandha is often referred to as an “adaptogen”. Increased stress tolerance is very desirable for smoking cessation. Ashwagandha has been consumed by humans for thousands of years in India and Africa and is well tolerated with little potential for side effects.

Rhodiola Rosea is the latest natural remedy to join the arsenal of natural anxiety and stress reducers. Studies of Rhodiola Rosea show that it stimulates neurotransmitters and enhances their effects on the brain. This includes the ability for the brain to process serotonin which helps the body to adapt to stress. Since adaptogens improve the body's overall ability to handle stress, it has been studied to identify it's effects on biological, chemical and physical stress. Rhodiola is suggested to improve symptoms of withdrawal in mice.

Female Balance

Black cohosh: Is commonly used by women to help them stay balanced during their monthly cycle and for hot flashes. However, it is also known to be a safe sedative that relieves nervousness and anxiety, which makes it useful for the irritability, restlessness, and nervousness associated with quitting smoking.

Korean ginseng: Is one of the most popular herbs in the world for stimulating energy and helping the body to deal with stress. This property enables ginseng to help alleviate the fatigue and anxiety related to quitting smoking. Ginseng is known to help reestablish balance in the body’s systems, which can be helpful to smokers as their bodies adjust to the absence of nicotine.

Motherwort: Has properties that enable it to act as a sedative, inducing tranquility in times of anxiety associated with quitting smoking.

Valerian: The exact mechanism is unclear, but valerian root seems to interact with GABA receptors in the brain, causing a sedative effect. Since many nicotine cravings are caused by stress and anxiety, this calming effect may help stave off cravings.

Gotu Kola Smoking lowers the memory of smokers. This problem can be solved by appropriate intake of Gotu kola which is useful to improve memory. It also plays an important role in improving the blood circulation throughout the body. Thus, it helps in controlling the damage caused by smoking to some extent.

The FDA has not evaluated any of these statements or this treatment and there is no guarantee of cure with this treatment. Results may vary.

Can Herbalith help on the HCG diet?

Many diets do not address the emotional aspects of eating. Weight loss is very emotionally challenging, especially when following a restrictive very low calorie diet. There are many herbs in herbalith that can support a person while on this or any restrictive diet. Herbalith is a combination of herbs, lithium, and amino acids each of which may have a benefit during your weight loss efforts.

Neurotransmitter depletion may play a role in the mood, appetite, and weight loss cycle.

Weight Loss Dieting is the most common cause of self-induced neurotransmitter deficiencies. Limiting food intake in order to lose weight restricts the amounts of basic building blocks (neurotransmitter precursors) needed to produce enough neurotransmitters.
Studies from major universities, including Harvard, MIT, and Oxford, have documented that women on diets significantly deplete their serotonin within three weeks of dieting. This induced serotonin deficiency eventually leads to increased cravings, moodiness and poor motivation. These all contribute to rebound weight gain – the most common yet unfortunate consequence of dieting.
Increasing neurotransmitter production during dieting is strongly encouraged to avoid yo-yo dieting. This is accomplished by taking dietary neurotransmitter precursor supplements during dieting.

Passion Flower Weight Loss

Because of its effects on insomnia, passion flower extract is beneficial for weight loss. Studies have proven extensively that people who lack sleep or suffer from insomnia have problems losing weight. Getting the proper amount of sleep each night helps when following a weight loss plan.

Stress also produces cortisol, which is responsible for weight gain around the middle of the body. Passion flower extract helps calm the nervous system and reduce stress, an important factor for losing weight.

Valerian Root Weight Loss

Valerian Root is a natural diuretic, which helps aid in weight loss. Because it has the ability to stimulate and cleanse the digestive and elimination systems, it is commonly used in weight loss supplements.

Recent studies have proven that getting a more restful, longer night's sleep has a big impact on weight loss. Since Valerian Root is primarily known as a sleep aid, it helps in this area with weight loss as well.

Hops and Weight Loss

Hops is known under the name of Humulus lupulus. This plant contains a substance called metilbutenol, which gives sedative properties of its chemical composition.

On this benefit hops counteracts the anxiety and nervousness, quite common in people with overweight.

Usually at this herb is it consumed next to each other with similar Properties such as Valerian.Combination of both power the sedative effect, reducing anxiety for food.

Losing weight is not easy, because you need perseverance, patience and perseverance, but it is not impossible, especially in people who suffer from anxiety for the food which it is difficult to control

L-theanine and weight loss

Controlling food cravings

How many of us compulsively eat when we’re under stress? L-Theanine may help control the food cravings that lead to weight gain. One of the hormones secreted during times of stress is cortisol, which keeps blood sugar levels constant by triggering the formation of glucose from fats and proteins. Unfortunately constant stress equals constant cortisol secretion which can lead to symptoms, such as depression, fatigue, insomnia and high blood sugar. These are key factors in keeping weight on and compulsive food cravings. L-Theanine, by managing the mechanisms that control stress, can have a profound effect on erratic and uncontrollable food cravings.

5-htp and weight loss

5-HTP is thought to reduce carbohydrate cravings, and thus, diminish food intake, resulting in weight loss. In addition to promoting weight loss, it has also been linked with beneficial effects on behaviors such as sleep disturbances, narcolepsy, depression, migraines, anxiety, bulimia, PMS, compulsive behaviors, substance abuse, childhood hyperactivity, and hypersexuality. A deficiency in the neurotransmitter serotonin (5-HT) has been linked with a number of behaviors mentioned above. It has especially been associated with carbohydrate craving because eating carbohydrates is one way to briefly increase the brain's level of 5-HT. This occurs because carbohydrates induce insulin production, and this insulin promotes 5-HT production. A temporary sense of well-being and satiety occurs. From this, it has been concluded that by increasing the brain's 5-HT levels by methods other than overeating carbs, these cravings would be avoided, satiety would be reached earlier, overeating would be avoided, and weight would be lost.

Turmeric and weight loss

Theory #1 on how tumeric might work

The first theory suggest that including turmeric in the diet causes the gallbladder to release more bile.
Bile is what breaks down fats inside your gut. This in turn may be responsible for promoting weight loss.
This theory is supported by the observations that in India, there are less cases of gallstone disease. Moreover, the German Commission E approves using turmeric for its ability to stimulate bile production.
Obviously, if you suffer from gallstone disease, you should not take turmeric without consulting an experienced health care provider first.

Theory #2 one how turmeric might work

Studies done at the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center showed that rats given a diet high in turmeric have a lower risk of developing diabetes. As well, these rats experienced a small but significant weight loss compared to the group not given turmeric in their diet.
It would appear that turmeric might be able to influence body fat composition.
Dr. Tortoriello came to the conclusion that turmeric's anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant benefits may be, in part, responsible for its ability to control blood sugar levels and to reduce obesity that commonly leads to type 2 diabetes.

Damiana and Weight Loss

Used to treat menstrual disorders, anxiety and diabetes. It reportedly has stimulant, diuretic and laxative effects as well. It is also a sexual stimulant. Can be used to relieve anxiety, reduce high blood sugar, and contribute to weight loss.

Ornithine and Weight Loss

Research has shown that Growth Hormone is a powerful rejuvenator - its use has the potential to reversing aging up to 10 to 20 years.
After age 30 the pituitary gland starts producing 1% less growth hormone per year. Growth Hormone is vital to maintaining the body in a youthful state. Until recently, the answer to this need has been for companies to produce Growth Hormone created from animals and plant sources for ingestion by humans. Putting another creatures growth hormone in the human body just is not natural. L-Ornithine allows your body to create their own Growth Hormone in amounts needed for your body.
L-Ornithine is able to improve the immune systems response to bacteria, viruses and tumor cells in addition to detoxifying the body of ammonia deposits.
The thymus gland (the major immune gland in the upper chest) tends to shrink with time. Animal studies conducted at major research labs have found that L-Ornithine supplements can cause the thymus gland, to actually re-grow to a more youthful level, giving the immune system a boost. The thymus gland is often considered the organ of rejuvenation and longevity. It is the gland in which the T cells of the immune system are formed and given identity. Upon release it is the T cells in particular that help find and destroy cancer cells and cells that have become afflicted with viruses.
Other organs that have been shown to re-grow under the influence of Growth Hormone are the heart, liver, spleen, kidneys and skin. Especially important for body sculpting, Growth Hormone may increase muscle mass.
L-Ornithine is best taken at bedtime to enhance the natural peak release of Growth Hormone that occurs 90 minutes after falling asleep, which may also improve sleep quality.

This formula also contains lithium

During the late 19th Century, French doctors noticed that the people who dug salt in the salt mines had very few mental problems. They discovered that it was their exposure to Lithium that accounted for the unusually healthy minds.
Because Lithium is naturally found in dirt and could not be patented, pharmaceutical companies were not interested in researching it or marketing it. It was only after tremendous pressure by the medical community and the public that the government subsidized the marketing of Lithium.
Lithium is an essential trace mineral that is required by the brain for proper functioning. Inadequate levels of Lithium in the brain produce one or more of the following symptoms: nervousness, impatience, attention deficit, “scattered thinking”, inability to concentrate, not being able to focus or stick to the point, starting many projects and not following through with them, insomnia. In severe Lithium deficiency, manic depression or bipolar disorders are common.
The normal source of Lithium in the diet is deep well water. In some locations, such as West Texas, water provides 2 to 6 mg of Lithium per day. This is one of the reasons that people in Abilene or Amarillo are much more relaxed than people in Houston, where the water has zero Lithium.

Supplements to fill in the gap on low carb or very low calorie diets

Dieting is difficult, here are some supplements that may help with certain issues while on your journey. Remove some of your dieting obstacles.

A good food-based multivitamin and antioxidant to fill any nutritional gaps while on a diet.
This one contains digestive enzymes and spirulina

People who have thin hair or brittle nails may benefit from biotin, which also helps with weight loss. Biotin is essential for your metabolic process. This vitamin processes nearly every type of food that you ingest, including carbohydrates, protein and fat. When biotin levels are at the proper levels in your body, the food that you take in will be processed quickly.

Some people may get leg cramps, and they should add a potassium and magnesium supplement.

still hungry? Consider chromium. In the 1960s, chromium was found to correct glucose intolerance and insulin resistance in deficient animals, two indicators that the body is failing to properly control blood-sugar levels and which are precursors of type 2 diabetes

Was your cholesterol high at the beginning of the diet? fatburner contains garcinia cambodiga and green tea. The list of health benefits from Green Tea is quite extensive. There has been tons of studies performed showing positive results for cholesterol health, lowering blood pressure, weight loss, supporting liver health and supporting healthy immune function.
The theory behind Garcinia Cambogia is that its HCA inhibits an enzyme called citrate lyase that helps turns excess carbohydrates into fat. By inhibiting this enzyme, it is believed the body instead boosts carbohydrate oxidation burns the extra carbs. Research suggests that this natural extract may also inhibit the conversion of excess calories to body fat. Garcinia a very popular herbal remedy for controlling obesity and cholesterol all over the world. Garcinia has also been considered to make foods more filling and satisfying, and has been used routinely for many centuries with no known toxicity.

Insomnia, mood problems or food addiction? Consider herbalith
Increasing neurotransmitter production during dieting is strongly encouraged to avoid yo-yo dieting. This is accomplished by taking dietary neurotransmitter precursor supplements during dieting.

Herbal support for insomnia, mood, ADHD, neurotransmitters, anxiety, etc

Anxiety, insomnia, nervousness, irritability, and hyperactivity--these are all symptoms of stress.  It can be stress to the nervous system, stress on the brain and mental capacity, stress on the emotions, stress on the adrenals or any other organ in the body.  What is needed is something calming.  For some it's a cup of hot tea and for others it's a great workout in the gym or an hour of yoga stretching.  There is no substitute for a healthy diet, appropriate excercise, and times of rest and restoration.  For some, however, that's not enough.  The body is out of balance and refuses to relax.  Herbs, vitamins, and minerals have been used for years to calm the body and bring it back into balance.
Herbalith has the following herbals, minerals, and RNA, which either carries or translates messages within the cells of the body.

 Valerian (Valeriana officinalis)

Valerian root is nature’s quintessential calmative, a sedative for the central nervous system. It may alleviate anxiety in adults and symptoms of ADD and ADHD in children; in fact some studies show that it may even eliminate the anxiety, fear, restlessness and aggressiveness associated with this increasingly common childhood affliction. Valerian may also alleviate depression, headaches, and insomnia by helping to promote sleepiness and by improving sleep quality. Finally and mercifully, it can decrease stress—and increase concentration as well.

 Hops (Humulus lupulus)

This perennial plant is a classic calmative known to alleviate aching ears, teeth, and heads as well as help with insomnia, nervousness, and stress by sedating the central nervous system.

 Passion Flower (Passiflora incarnata)

Another natural calmative from nature’s pharmacy, Passion Flower acts like Hops in alleviating anxiety and ameliorating nervousness and insomnia by sedating the central nervous system. Headaches of nervous origin and some forms of depression may be helped by Passion Flower, which can reduce irritability and the incidence of mood swings. It may even be beneficial to those experiencing withdrawal symptoms associated with street or prescription drugs.

 L-Tryptophan

Among its many therapeutic benefits, this essential amino acid may help to alleviate some cases of anxiety by stimulating the production of the neurotransmitter serotonin and many forms of depression especially those characterized by intense carbohydrate cravings. Tryptophan may decrease certain cravings and their associated depression and alleviate headaches as well migraines caused by vascular constriction. If taken some 30 to 45 minutes before bedtime, tryptophan may induce sleep given its precursor role in melatonin and serotonin production. In significant dosing tryptophan may increase the body's threshold to pain because of its requirement for the release of beta-endorphin, one of the body’s natural pain relieving substances.

 Lithium

Concentrated in the brain’s pituitary gland, lithium sedates the central nervous system, may alleviate recurrent depression and the pain associated with migraines and “cluster” type headaches. Lithium may improve learning ability and memory, prevent various mental ailments especially mood disorders, assists in maintaining stable moods and emotions, and alleviate neuralgia due to its ability to stabilize nerves. Lithium may even stimulate the growth of neurons, facilitate the regeneration of damaged neurons, and support nerve remyelinization.
It is interesting to note that (1) epidemiological studies show that communities with the highest lithium levels in their drinking water enjoy the lowest incidence of suicide

 Damiana

Damiana is a native shrub of Central and South America. It is well known for its treatment in mild depression and anxiety. It can treat emotional and physical distress in people. It enhances hormonal production, both in men and women and acts as aphrodisiac. Damiana acts as nerve tonic, to relieve your stress.

 Turmeric

Is useful in people who are depressed because turmeric has the ability to regulate the release of the neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine.

 Schisandra

It improves the overall function level of the Central Nervous System (CNS).

 RNA

Supplemental RNA may improve mental function and memory especially in terms of its anti-aging support in adding to the brain’s quantity of this nucleic acid. RNA may also improve impaired learning ability associated with decreased brain concentrations after midlife.

 L-theanine

Is involved in the production of the neurotransmitter called GABA (gamma amino butyric acid). GABA affects other neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine. And these two important neurotransmitter induce a relaxed mental state.

Consider Herbalith if you suffer from:

ADHD, Anxiety, Migraine, Insomnia, Headache, Depression, Mood Swings, Chemical Dependency, Mania, Bi-Polar, Fibromyalgia, Brain Aging

Pure lithium, like sodium, calcium, or potassium, is a naturally occurring mineral. Lithium is found abundantly in certain rocks and the sea and in minute amounts in plant and animal tissues. Lithium also shows up in water, notably in the springs and spas where in earlier times people "took the waters," bathing in and drinking the lithium-rich water for its soothing effects.
During the late 19th Century, French doctors noticed that the people who dug salt in the salt mines had very few mental problems. They discovered that it was their exposure to Lithium that accounted for the unusually healthy minds. Population studies suggested that areas high in lithium (like near a natural spring) have very low levels of depressed people. Areas low in lithium have a higher rate of mental disorders and higher violent crime rates. The normal source of Lithium in the diet is deep well water. In some locations, such as West Texas, water provides 2 to 6 mg of Lithium per day. This is one of the reasons that people in Abilene or Amarillo are much more relaxed than people in Houston, where the water has zero Lithium.

Lithium Deficiency Signs can include PMS, Insomnia, headache, ADHD, Joint pain & Nervous disorders

What Lithium Does:

Helps regulate nerve impulses by regulating sodium and potassium
Influences distribution of sodium and potassium
Influences sodium transport
Stabilizes serotonin transmission in the nervous system
Studies suggest it has a role in glucose metabolism and insulin resistance

Lithium is one of the most common elements used for stabilizing mood swings, mania and depression. Lithium orotate is a highly bioavailable form of lithium that is available without a prescription. Because of its superior bioavailability, (20 times more bio-active than other lithium salts) lower doses of lithium orotate (Rather than lithium carbonate or lithium citrate) may be used to achieve therapeutic brain lithium concentrations and relatively stable serum concentrations.

Lithium orotate has also been demonstrated to be of benefit in the treatment of alcoholics, and proved useful in alleviating alcohol-related symptoms of liver dysfunction, seizure disorders, headaches, hyperthyroidism, affective disorders.

Standard lithium orotate dietary supplements provide 5 mg lithium. This is 1 to 2 percent of the dose provided by prescription forms of lithium.

Herbalith contains lithium orotate A 120mg tablet of lithium orotate usually has 4.5mg--5mg of elemental lithium. Herbalith contains 100 mg of lithium orotate.

Lithium can also be incorporated into the diet. Foods that contain Lithium include eggs, milk, tomatoes, seaweed, kelp, dulse, lemons and eggplant. Garlic, cinnamon, nutmeg, thyme, and coriander are some spices that contain lithium in small amounts. Some mineral spring waters contain small amounts of this substance.

Mineral waters such as Vichy and Evian were initially also promoted on the basis of their slightly higher lithium concentrations.

Directions: Take one tablet after dinner or at bedtime. May increase to two tablets as needed.

Orac value of different foods allowed in the Beta HCG diet

Orac value of different foods allowed in the Beta HCG diet

ORAC Values are the most common standard of measuring the antioxidant capacity of fruits and vegetables. ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbency Capacity. This standard has been adopted by the US Department of Agriculture, and has come to be accepted as some kind of "official" standard.

ORAC values measure the time an antioxidant takes to react to free radicals, as well as the amount of antioxidants in the specific food. It combines these elements into one measurement.

Foods with a higher ORAC value, in general, have a greater antioxidant potential than those with low values. The foods that tend to rank the highest in ORAC values are fruits with bright pigmentation: berries, red grapes, cherries and apples are some examples.

Based on scientific evidence, daily antioxidant intake should increase to 3,000 to 5,000 ORAC units per day to reach a significant antioxidant capacity in blood plasma and other tissues. According to the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), current intake is about 1,200 units per day.

One can still obtain the 3000-5000 ORAC recommended on this diet, if you include herbs in your seasoning, and combine your foods for maximum effect. One can also drink herbal tea.

Tea has a high ORAC score: USDA researchers, using a test tube measure called ORAC, found that an 8-ounce serving of black or green tea is more effective in neutralizing free radicals than individual servings of more than 33 commonly consumed fruits and vegetables.

American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine Video

Who wouldn’t like to extend the years we live in good health?
Who wouldn’t like to delay the onset of aging and live beyond the average lifespan of currently about 80 years?
Who wouldn’t like to prevent the diseases that frequently come with aging, like Alzheimer's, fatigue, heart disease, stroke, cancer or arthritis?
How do we move towards these goals?

A broad definition of 'anti-aging' is any intervention intended to preserve and extend one's lifespan. All time honored health promoting behaviors such as good hygiene and various safety measures are 'anti-aging'in that they prevent premature death from disease or accident. Diet, exercise and stress reduction are 'anti-aging' by virtue of their ability to increase well being and lifespan.

Current research on antioxidant supplementation and hormone replacement therapy is gathering evidence of 'anti-aging' activity through their ability to improve cellular degeneration associated with aging.
